In a time when machines are more efficient than manpower and when high-rise condominiums and skyscrapers dominate the urban jungle, world leaders are planning to globalize and build a new age for humanity (Press, 2016) through education. Education is one of the goals of globalization (McGrath, 2014; Sourani, Mourad, Khodr, 2016), which aims to intellectualize every human being.
A country with a high literacy rate receives benefits, as seen in its economy, technology, growth, and development. Strong literacy skills, as mentioned by Neilson (2014), are a key tool used when children discern and interpret information, which enables them to utilize the Internet to its full potential; the children with strong literacy skills can then bring these …show more content…

When one talks about engineering, they usually mean the discipline of applied science and mathematics to create, invent, build, maintain, and improve existing machines, designs, apparatuses, and processes. Engineering education refers to the act of teaching knowledge and principles related to the practice of engineering.
As stated by the Department of Education (2013), the K to 12 Program, covering 13 years of basic education, is a program present in nearly all the countries worldwide, sans Angola, Djibouti, and the Philippines. 1.2 Significance of the Study
As members of an engineering school’s student body, underprivileged students play a significant role, and more often than not are the ones who manage to obtain remarkably high marks and become recognized as underprivileged achievers become models to their peers. The study’s results might provide some form of insight for engineering students that are in similar positions, but lacking the comparative ability, and compel them to recognize that their status does not hinder them from achieving similar merits.
Another beneficiary might be the underprivileged engineering students acting as key participants themselves, as the study might be able to show them how they could improve upon their own situations by examining the situations of others who have gone through similar circumstances and have achieved similar
