Bristol Bay is located in southwest Alaska and is 40,000 square miles. Within Bristol Bay there are 5 national parks and wildlife refuges. There are 7500 people who live in the area, 66% of them are Alaskan native. Like many Alaskan native communities, they rely greatly on their natural resources around them. Bristol Bay is very remote therefore there are no connecting roads to Alaska’s main cities so the only way to get there is by plane. Bristol Bay is home to many animals including threatened species like the North Pacific Right Whale.
