Societies in which citizens have the right to vote for representatives are attributed with the classification of “democracy.” Additionally, countries in which citizens are obliged to vote directly on the legislation of their state are referred to as democracies. A society that has been labeled a democracy is often falsely attributed

The United States of America uses a system of democracy to govern the country. In a democratic government, citizens have the right to voice their opinion regarding who will run their country and their tactics in doing so. American citizens should not be required to vote because mandating voting would take away from the overall meaning of a democracy. Democracy is about freedom and by making voting compulsory, the freedom of citizens is limited (Text 4, line 11). A democratic government is established with the intention of giving more rights and power to its citizens.
Then for a monarchy government, they think it 's a good idea to govern this system by honor. Finally, for a despotic government system is run by the idea of fear. Montesquieu tells us each way of governing these main systems based on their sizes. The size of a government and the way to govern it is very important when it comes to the idea of liberty. The bigger the government it should be run in fear and a smaller government should be run on virtue because this can cause corruption.
A pure democracy is defined as a type of government where the population determines all political policies directly. The majority vote always wins. Although this may sound fair, pure democracies allow the majority to tyrannically reign over the minority; this could be applied to ethnic groups as well as states. I believe that one of the most powerful attributes of the America government system is democracy, defined as government by the people. As Americans we are able to exercise our governing power by electing officials into office who share our political values, which gives us the capacity to totally govern ourselves. The American political system has a balance of power, and is ruled with checks and balances. Checks and balances with separation of powers refers to the split of government responsibilities into distinct branches to limit any of the branches from exercising the core functions of another. This was put into place within American government so that there is not a concentration of power within any one branch.
Although many aspects of the government were structured after Greco-Roman concepts, the notion of a democratic republic was original to America. The implications of the title given to the form of rule include self-government, a government by the people. Self-government was defined by Abraham Lincoln as a government “by the people, of the people, and for the people”, granting the right to elect representatives to enumerate laws and enforce them. This right would eventually lead to the bicameral government system, consisting at that time of the Federalists and the Jeffersonian Republicans. The Federalist stated that government must be given power to control people, but must also be controlled because it is a reflection on human nature (DOC I).
Regardless of the size of the states and population of the states I believe that it is only right and fair to have proportional representation in all states. We are trying to build a country of freedom , strength , equality, and power . We can not sit here and let our nation follow the footsteps of England instead we should strive to make it a much better country . Proportional representation will bring fairness, election of minor parties, voter participation, and wider benefits to society . Do we think by not giving the both of the houses proportional representation that we will be showing the difference between us and England ?
