Valentine’s Day 2018, the Day Without Love. On February 14, 2018, an active shooter went into a high school in Parkland Florida and killed 17 people. Some people believe that new gun laws need to be in place to prevent school shootings. However some believe that taking away guns will not stop a person who wants to harm others.
Most people that commit violent gun crimes are mentally ill, for example the last school shooting that occured on february 14 2018 at Marjory stoneman douglas high school in parkland florida, the gunman Nikolas Cruz was mentally ill. He walked into the school with his guns and shot and killed 17 students and a teacher. He had issues with learning, and controlling his emotions and stuff. (source)
In conclusion we should have better gun control. There are roughly 32,000 gun deaths per year in the United States. That’s a big number of deaths. There should be a law were every gun how has ever been checked out or bought to have a number and if stole they have to report about just in case someone is trying to use it for the something bad. For the better and the sake of our planet we should have better gun control considering it will save a lot of lives.
Allowing guns on college campuses will merely increase the chances of a school shooting occurring and increase the crime rate in schools. That this would not solve anything at all, it will purely make matters worse, although this rest far from the truth. Research conducted by the “American Gun Facts” surveyed hundreds of felons and polls showed that ⅗ felons would not dare to intervene with an armed victim. Not to mention, of all registered firearms in the United States, only 8.5% are murders, 5% are rapes, 7% are aggravated assaults, and 3% are robberies. If college students were armed with firearms, this would dramatically decrease the crime rate and the likelihood of a mass shooting occurring on a college campus.
Nutter goes on to reveal some surprising information, stating that out of the average 100,000 people that are shot each year, over 30 percent end up dying, while only 10 percent were intentional homicides (Lane 2015). Every year approximately 18,000 children are shot, only further proving the school shooter epidemic our country faces. This sort of violence is nearly exclusive to urban areas, as cities make up 15 percent of the population but account for 39 percent gun related murders and 23 percent total homicides. Nutter is proposing a ban on assault weapons, quite similar to a 1994 ban that decreased total gun murders by 6.7 percent and the types of shootings they were most often used in, specifically ones with multiple victims and police officers as victims. Nutter proposes to ban the sale, manufacture, transfer, and importation of 157 common types of assault rifles, ban large capacity magazines, and prohibit the sale or transfer of high holding ability ammunition dispensing
Gun caused violent, we must banned gun and stop using them for forever! Qualification: (Tell listeners your personal experience with your topic, making you qualified to affect their opinions about it.) The mass shooting in Paris, November 2015 is one of the most horrible terrorist attacks I had ever knew. The terrorist killed 130 people, make 413 people seriously injured.
Gun control is a law in which determines how firearms are used, sold and who have the right to use them. There are statistics that show how most of the population of a country is in favor of owning a firearm for self-defense. In my opinion, gun control should be enforced because it will make us safer and would reduce crimes. If people use guns as self-defense then they would increase the homicide rate.
She states “because of the numerous amounts of loopholes in our countries current gun restrictions, it is pointless to keep enforcing these laws. A whole new set of tighter stricter gun laws should be enacted instead for a real change to occur” (Watkins). She does bring up a valid point here. These loopholes have resulted in some instances where people purchased a gun from a private seller without having to go through the standard waiting period and background checks that would typically occur if a gun was being purchased from a licensed arms dealer; however even with these “loopholes” the seller must report to the government the weapon being sold as well as the intended buyer of said weapon. One big problem people have with guns and gun laws today is gun shows.
But if the Government regulates guns it will violate our rights. For Instance the 2nd Amendment allows us to bear arms. Another reason why not to regulate guns is that guns don’t always cause death. Why regulate guns when a vehicle caused about 34,000 death a year according to Wikipedia which is more that is gun deaths. Also guns don’t kill people, people kill people and gun is a tool which you need
Dozens of students stand in protest in Florida for their peers who were silenced last week by a shooter who entered their high school and shot more than fifteen students and teachers combined. After the Sandy Hook massacre, you would have thought the legislation would act upon gun control; however, nothing has been done. Thousands of Americans today stand outside the Supreme Court in hopes of stricter gun laws to be activated upon, but what they don’t acknowledge is the fact that stricter gun laws are just the beginning. To suppress this steep hill of school massacres, legislation needs to not only advance in stricter gun laws, but support the mentally unstable, as well.
Gun Laws There have been many cases of murder, robbery, and rape that could have been stopped if more places allowed carrying of guns. If carriers could take a gun to more places themselves there would be less crimes in those areas due to trained carriers being able to protect others. If the laws were to be greatly increased, fewer areas would allow carriers; giving criminals, who do not abide by gun laws and would acquire them illegally, more opportunities to commit crimes knowing the people are defenseless. With more, strict laws in place most people would be unable to get a gun to defend their homes and families, while criminals are still able to get guns through illegal activities.
Gun control is a major problem/controversy in America right now. People are getting killed and the way they are getting killed is by gun. They blame the gun for the murder, but I mean is it really the guns fault? That’s like saying a guy with no arms or legs was walking on the sidewalk eating something with his arms. Recently, gun control has been involved in places such Missouri, New York, Los Angeles etc.
