Happiness brings to each of us the moment of sublimation with the sweetness of life. In this paper, we will find how to be happy, to make life joyful, comfortable and meaningful. Firstly, People want to be happy , but in order to be so your needs first to understand what happiness is. Happiness is difficult to define. “Happiness depends on ourselves, who perceive and feel.
It cannot be defined by just one thing. Satisfaction, like happiness, is mainly about one’s perspective on how their life is progressing. Meanwhile Diener and Biswas-Diener emphasize that how much someone is satisfied with money and material items is what causes them to be happy. We must always take into account what creates the splendor of happiness and satisfaction. We are all on this constant search for happiness, where we look for it in many different places, such as career achievements, material possessions and money.
Mark Williamson explained it to me in his article "Why Does Happiness Matter?" Starting with his input on what happiness is, he nicely states, "Happiness is about being able to make the most of the good times – but also to cope effectively with the inevitable bad times, in order to experience the best possible life overall." Williamson goes on to explain how happiness is important because of a wide variety of benefits for our overall quality of life. Studies at Warwick University and Wharton Business School found that happier people are 11% more productive and outperform their peers. Happy young adults even go on to earn more in life, a team at UCL found.
Now, everyone at some point in their lives have felt prideful of their money, jobs, and the things they have that others don’t. A study conducted in 2010 by Daniel Kahneman and Angus Deaton showed that money does buy us happiness but only for a limited amount of time. The study also showed that people who had a salary of $75,000 were happy but people who were making more weren’t happier. (Hamburgh) Having lots of fancy things can make people happy. Such as a house, car, phone, and computer.
What is happiness? This is the burning question that psychologists have been trying to answer since the end of World War II. Happiness differs throughout each person just like the causes of happiness varies between every individual. Some may be full of joy over smaller events or achievements than others would. Maybe celebrating an excellent grade would put someone in the happiest state he or she have ever been in, but for another person, it might give them a spur of happiness that he or she quickly loses.
Yet others may believe that being healthy will make them happy, but happiness is a decision. Happiness is a state of mind or a mentality that a person carries. I believe that we are in control of our own happiness because we are the only ones in control of our thoughts and if we choose to carry around a positive mentality and look at the bright side of our situations, we will live in happiness. For many people money, wealth, or material objects are what they strive for, believing that the more they have the happier they will be. As a result, many spend their lives, sometimes working long hours and neglecting their own health, in pursuit of wealth.
it is a life without any ‘what ifs’. To be loved and to be able to love is a crucial part of having a good life. A good life is something that everyone wants to have or achieve without really realizing that they might already have one. Through this essay I want to show people that the ‘good’ aspect in good life can be something so small that it is often overlooked but can make your life that much better. It is the small things that make life good rather than the large extravagant ones.
But I feel that happiness only comes through love and affection from those we care and love. In life we all have our own believes towards this topic but in my personal opinion people with the most money try and replace the love they did not get growing up with using money to buy love. The happiness brought by money is like an illusion that tricks your mind to thinking your happy but in reality you have not. Money buys happiness because it can help you get out of debt, it helps you cover your families needs, like food and clothing. We can not live on this earth without any money, without money your life is limited to what you can do.
They are all I will ever need to be happy in my life. Money can change people in many negative ways and make them do things they will later regret. For instance, there was this story we just read in my English class not too long ago. It was about this fastidious, middle-class woman and her motivation towards happiness. Happiness to her meant that she had to have a really gorgeous dress, fine jewelry, and a wealthy life.
