However, the alternative therapies, which means ( in place of ) is very different from complementary therapies, which means ( together with), but some people still use them instead of the original treatments that may be prescribed by their doctor. On the other hands, some of these alternative treatments can cause unpleasant or dangerous reactions if taken with other drugs, which may lead to greater problems. Even with the adverse reaction, the people are still using them. Therefore, the alternative medicine has five categories. The herbal remedy is one of the biologically based approaches. Herbalism is the use of the herbs and its components, which have been widely used in the past as medical therapy. However, nowadays it's been used with the presence of medical treatment, for all ages even with the adverse effect of the herbs. As well as the vitamin supplements with all the forms either tablets or powder form. Unlike the pleasant effect such as improving and strengthen the immune system, some type of the herbs if taken with another herb, food or with a prescribed medicine well give bad effects. Although, some pregnant women still using a lot of the alternative medicine and herbal remedies because of the fear of the medical drugs, to avoid the adverse and the dangerous effect that may affect her fetus. Likely, the consuming of herbal remedies for the chronic ill patient with cancer or diabetes especially elderly is common due to the frequent consumption and purchase of medicine that some patient can not provide, or the fear of the side effect from the prescribed
