Honor Codes will prevent cheating and every school and university should have one. An honor code would enforce rules, maintain students integrity, and cultivate honesty. An honor code is beneficial and should be something every school should have. My school would benefit from having an honor code instead of an integrity code. An honor code benefits students in the long run by forcing students to be honest and work hard in school.
The idea of virtue ethics was first introduced to the world by Aristotle over 2,300 years ago in 325 BC (Rachels 173). Virtue ethics operate on the belief that people develop good character by looking at the virtues they admire in other people and emulating them. In order to do this, a person must ask themselves what kind of person they want to be and focus on choosing characteristics not specific people to emulate. Unfortunately, virtue ethics were quickly overshadowed by other perspectives on ethical theory as Christianity gained popularity and values changed. As time went on people stopped asking themselves, “What traits make a good person?” and instead asked, “What is the right thing to do?” (Rachels 174).

The difference between people who cheat and people who don’t is their character. While they can be seen as just another set of rules to follow, there should be an academic honor code implemented in all schools. We regard the word “Loyalty” as a personal attitude toward something. You can center your entire moral values into a rational outset of loyalty. It’s for this reason that the students might give in to the prospect of succeeding in the class by foregoing the price of academic integrity. Students cheat in order to survive the growing pressure from parents; cheating is continuously getting out of hand due to the

In early times honor meant more than simply just integrity. There are two types of honor, horizontal honor, which is the mutual respect given within an exclusive group of equals. Vertical honor is the second type of honor, this honor isn't about mutual respect, but about giving praise and esteem to people who are superior to the other men in the group, this honor is often hierarchical.
The honor code is a system that many schools use to establish trust with teachers and students by having students report each other for cheating, plagiarizing, stealing, and getting consequences for violating those codes. I personally like the honor code but I believe it can be a little revised for the best. The part I think is too excessive is the students control each other. It may work in some schools but it could easily be corrupted. If you think about it many students are broke, a student could easily pay the other student to allow them to cheat or copy.
Integrity is often times formed by the honor code, which instills moral values in a student. In a school with the honor code, many students uphold strong moral principles. In schools with enforced honor codes, “Students who enter a college of mostly “honest” types will
