Indonesia is an archipelago between the continents of Asia and Australia as well as the Indian and Pacific Ocean. Therefore the country should have enough electricity power supply, because electrical source is present nearly anywhere. However that particular statement could not be far from the truth. Indonesia’s main source of electricity is geothermal and hydropower. Unfortunately in regions such as Bangka Belitung, the electrical supply does not meet with the demand, even though oceanic waters surround the twin-island province. Therefore this paper will analyze how hydropower can be taken from the ocean, it’s political and environmental impact on Bangka Belitung, and how this technology can aid other regions in Indonesia that are deprived from sufficient electrical power.

Hydropower is a form of renewable energy and it is becoming very common around the world. Since it relies on the movement of water to create electrical energy, therefore most countries take use of that form of renewable energy. Dams and water power stations are examples of the applications of hydropower. However not a lot of countries make electrical energy from the …show more content…

However the electrical output from the generator is channelled to a transformer to increase the voltage output. This is to make sure that the electrical power that comes into the house meets the requirement. The picture below shows in detail how a hydropower station normally works.

In this picture, it is seen how the water is taken from a reservoir, and then the plant will convert kinetic energy into electrical energy. This picture is taken from a design from the US however examples from other countries have a similar design. The main idea is to convert kinetic energy into electrical energy, no matter how it is
