In every social media site that public can access, there is a high probability that people can catch a glimpse of memes or simply distinct comical posts in diverse forms such as videos, images, audios or phenomenon. Where did meme originate and why is it relevant for today’s society? According to biologist Richard Dawkin (1976), memes are an idea, behavior, or style that spreads rapidly from a person to another within a culture through imitation. With the rise of the cyberspace, the concept coined in the book establishes to what memes are at the present time. Everybody, accordingly, can produce and spread memes on social media sites or even by word of mouth. Given these points, Internet memes are posts created by people that usually conveys a particular in an adaptable and amusing way which one disseminates to others into various media forms such as photos or videos or other imitable phenomena. Despite its illogical nature, Internet Memes are an acceptable form of modern communication for its capability to spread ideas, social criticism, and awareness of different situations.
