What a wonderful era we live in, infused with all kinds of technology. Supposedly we are made efficient and productive by a myriad of inventions and gadgets. There is a gadget for almost anything. Specially designed gadgets assist one to sleep while other gadgets are designed to keep one awake. Some gadgets improve one’s fishing skills, they better one’s golf game, while others just allow one to play away for hours.
The incredible current technology created a wonderful opportunity for us to have quick and convenient access to knowledge. For centuries the civilisation’s knowledge existed in libraries. To keep and maintain a library is an expensive undertaking. For this reason it was, and still is, governments, learning institutions and large church organisations which are the custodians of these libraries. In the pursuit of knowledge a scholar was required to spend hours manually searching through books, theses and manuscripts. Often a search had to be conducted from library to library to find that elusive piece of knowledge as every library contained a different collection of books. It was always libraries that provided a knowledge backbone to learning institutions. Without these vast repositories of knowledge the transfer of knowledge to students would have been

When attempting to live a victorious life in the blessings granted to us by the work of Jesus on the cross, the popular saying, ‘ignorance is bliss’, can’t be further from the truth. In fact, ignorance translates to bondage. Not only does it bind us to our own personal shortcomings; it also binds us to harmful teachings and religious customs. Ignorance robs us from becoming the victorious children of God, we should be. According to Jesus, bondage is the result of not knowing the truth. This is why He taught his disciples, ‘…you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free’ John chapter 8 verse
The bliss is short lived, when the truth comes
A “simple creature of flesh and bone”(76-77) is not seen as being capable of understanding god’s will. Unlike god a person’s views may be warped by emotion; someone may “suffer hell in [their] soul and [their] flesh.”(77) After the death of Akida Drummer the prisoners forget to pray for him as a direct result of their own suffering. Unlike a god they have been rendered unable to fulfill their promise to their friend because of their own emotional trauma. Sorrow and other emotional responses are described as a force capable of destroying one’s ability to reason. Furthermore humankind is not seen as having adequate trust in god’s will.
We know not why our curse makes us seek we know not what, ever and ever. But we cannot resist it. It whispers to us that there are greater things on this earth of ours, and that we can know them if we try, and that we must know them. We ask, why we must know, but it has no answer to give us. We must know that we may know.”
In the present global world, we are living in the era of advanced technology like computes, smart phones, TV and so on; and I love that. As early day goes by technology is changed. Technology makes things happen so faster. “The Pedestrian” by Ray Bradbury illustrates the power of technology and its influence that it has on the society. Bradbury uses imagery to express on the impact that the society is having due towards the powerful affect of technology. “The Pedestrian” offers a glance into the future, where a man Leonard Mead is on a long walk in the evening by himself. The power of technology is shown with the number of people being affected by the power of technology particularly television. “The Pedestrian”, Leonard realizes that the society, has formed to one may say a dystopian society, because of how affected it has changed the society.

The search for knowledge is arduous, to utilize knowledge wisely can be blessings, but
Furthermore, the creation of the Encyclopédie, which was made with all available knowledge, challenged the authority of the Roman Catholic Church and of the elite government, both of whom tried
This is knowledge which grants eternal happiness and meaning cannot be philosophized by the castaway; it must arrive in the form of news, which is the Absolute Paradox. By faith, this news must be heard and heeded. The Christian faith is neither knowledge nor science nor a “miraculous favor which allows one to… believe the impossible” (146). Faith is a form of communication from God, which is delivered by an apostle whose message, while transcendental and paradoxical, is believable and necessary. Jesus, who comes to bring news across the seas does so with authority and steadfastness to the point of martyrdom.
Many readers will easily recognize the expression "Big Brother Is Watching You." It is a reference from Orwell 's novel 1984 in which the country of Oceania tries their best to destroy the past and remake the future. Oceania tries many things to keep their people quiet and repressed so they cannot question the government 's authority. One example of how the government represses their people can be explained by the slogan Ignorance is Strength. "Ignorance is Strength" has played a significant role is George Orwell 's 1984.
His curiosity got that best of him, and he decided to make a journey to the “Land of the Gods”. He soon found that although it was preached that he would die if he went to the “Land of the Gods”, He was just fine. The quote, “It is absurd to take things on faith, without doubting or testing them in any way, and go on preaching that you really do have the answers,” (The Importance…) is relevant in the story because John believed what was fed to him as fact even though it was inaccurate. Once he started asking questions and having doubt, he was able to find out the truth. This is applicable to modern religion because sometimes individuals start to ask questions and do research about their religion.
Although he doubts God in the beginning, he begins to question his doubt. In the following quotation, John is worrying about his future if he does not accept God. He begins to believe that God truly is the only way to escape the evil he was born in. ¨Only the hand of God could deliver him.
In only a couple of decades, technology has imbedded itself into people’s lives, to the point it would be difficult to live without using technology. In Neil Postman’s speech “Informing Ourselves to Death,” he explains how not all technology is being used for what its original purpose was, and how people are starting to drown in the useless information technology gives. Postman also makes the claim, “And therefore, in a sense, we are more naïve than those in the Middle Ages, and more frightened, for we can be made to believe almost anything” (5). Though Postman gave this speech about thirty years ago, this accurately describes modern society. Technology was meant to help people learn and improve their lives, but it has instead increased the naivety of the world.
