Area FFA Officer Essay There are several reasons why I want to be an Area 15 FFA officer. The principal reason that I want to be an officer is for the learning experience that it will provide. Along with learning various new objectives, being an area officer will help me develop and better some of the leadership skills that I already have. Not only would being an area officer provide personal benefit, I could use the skills and knowledge that I gain to help benefit my chapter. The first was that I feel like I would like to work on developing a stronger and more open first impression with people in groups. This decision stemmed from all three individuals who offered me feedback saying I could work on opening up a little more initially in groups. First impressions are “crucial because they set the stage for future conversations, relationships, and business.” (Fee, 2005, p.1) As I seek to develop my leadership in all aspects of my life, it is important to be able give people positive first impressions. I decided to focus on a specific behavior that I believe is critical in positive first impressions: smiling.
