Introduction
Living a healthy life consists of regularly exercising, eating healthy, and making sure the body gets its desired amount of water every day. An individual who lives a healthy lifestyle is at a lowered risk of diseases (heart disease is the number one killer in the United States) and illness (McGee, 2013). When an individual is committed to living a healthy life, it includes life longevity and limited health problems. Not only does leading a healthy lifestyle lower health risks, but it also improves happiness (Hsieh, 2008). Foods contribute to the vitamins and minerals that are provided for each bodily system’s function. Balance and portion sizes are a key to get what the body needs. Someone who may be currently leading an unhealthy lifestyle can adopt different habits to obtain health benefits. Steps a person can take towards a healthy change is checking BMI, doing intense cardio, increasing iron-rich foods, and doubling water intake.

Iron is a mineral with many bodily regulations. Iron has the ability to help the body maintain normal body temperature while in a cold environment (Agarwal, 2007) and this is why people who are anemic have a hard time staying warm in cold weather. Foods that are rich in iron are spinach, lentils, kidney beans, etc (Pendrick, 2015), and these can help to keep iron production throughout the body. Iron has functional consequences besides anemia. Some consequences include changes in attention, memory, and learning (Agarwal, 2007).
