Many people typically believe love is always a positive emotion; however, it is not always all happiness. In a Ted Talk video, Lewandowski explains how “our relationships…., they define us, they sustain us,” these relationships and make people who they are. these romantic relationships can have a large effect on one’s life. Love is one of the hardest emotions to process because love can lead to other emotions that most people do not really associate with love. Love is an emotion that has an everlasting effect on one’s life by because it defines an individual’s romantic relationships. One might still dwell on the past because love, one of the most important emotions in our lives, defines us. For example, Foer states, “The sight of of him was like an earthquake shaking me to piece” (3). Furthermore, at that point in time, the woman was telling herself that she was going to tell her old boyfriend how she felt when he broke up with her. Rather than moving on, the woman dwelled on the past instead of moving on from the relationship. Yezierska use of similes further develop the idea that love is challenging to move on from. Love can control a person in a way that someone would obsess over another person for their whole mortal life. Love is what drives humans because most being loved is something most normal humans want, but one sometimes might not respond to the love as well as they would want to.
