In the course of research, the author found out that there is a general lack of information and knowledge on menstruation amongst girl learners and male Life Orientation (LO) educators. There were very little concrete details given by educators concerning the biological basis of menstruation, how to manage menses and how to dispose used sanitary material properly. The learners were relying much on the information that was given by mothers, sisters, grandmothers, aunties and friends. Most these people have experience but they lack biological understanding of the whole process and most of the time they give very little attention. The educators giving the knowledge were very few and they lack information and training on issues of menstruation …show more content…
They were lacking privacy and had dysfunctional flushing systems, hand wash basins, broken faucets and lack of closed disposal bins. The toilets were dirty and smelly with cubicles that could not be locked inside or no toilet doors. This is the reality in most of schools in rural and peri-urban areas. My view, as highlighted in the South African constitution and the Compulsory National Standards Regulation 2 , the government of South Africa has a duty to “provide appropriate health and hygiene education and a toilet which is safe, reliable, environmentally sound, easy to keep clean, provides privacy and protection against the weather, well ventilated, keeps smells to a minimum and prevents the entry and exit of flies and other disease –carrying pests”. There is need to the government of South Africa to be put to pressure to fulfill this constitutional duty (5, 6). PART 2 If am charged with meeting the menstruation-related needs and problems of adolescent girls in my district, I will mainly focus on the following, strengthening methods of transmitting information and knowledge on menstruation, improving sanitary facilities and starting a dialogue between the community and the government on …show more content…
This will involve creation of teaching materials and open dialogues between parents and girls and address all the misconceptions involving menstruation. Traditional, social and political platforms for example party rallies can be used to educate people on MHM. Parents or guardians will be trained trough workshops to impart them with adequate, correct and appropriate knowledge on puberty. The same training program will be introduced to educators in all schools in the district. I will engage all education and health stockholders to integrate MHM into school curriculum. I will open debate with the government officials of all levels and address the need of subsidizing the cost of sanitary pads or the need of distributing the sanitary pads for free to all poor households. I will put the government to task to fulfil its duty of providing all South Africans with adequate and appropriate sanitary facilities as stipulated by the constitution ( I will use chapter 9 institutions)(7). I will improve the existing sanitary facilities for changing and washing. I will improve management of menstrual waste and create good and safe disposal system mechanism to all
It is also important that we provide accurate and proven sexual classes to our students. More than 80% of Americans believe that a form of sexual education should be taught in schools.5 The majority of these people believe that this education should be focused on various forms of birth control. Currently the federal government provides funds for these evidence-based types of education through the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative and the Personal Responsibility Education Program. I will support programs that seek to expand funding for programs that teach a variety of birth control methods
In Jason Stabler’s article Canadian Identity and Canada’s Indian Residential School Apology he argues that true reconciliation can only be accomplished if Canadians realize the extent of the wrongs done to Indigenous people and come to the terms with the cruelty and illegality of the early settlers. Stabler discusses how Canadians believe in the country’s lawfulness despite its questionable methods of obtaining land. According to Stabler, benevolence, another important part of Canadian Identity, as Canadian’s believe settlers treated the Indigenous people humanely whereas it very much misrepresents the “cultural genocide” that occurred. Stabler maintains that these are enormous obstacles in the way of reconciliation between Canada and Indigenous
George Jenkins High School is known for their dreadful football team but mainly their revolting bathrooms. High School presents many struggles for teenagers. One of these struggles is prominent in the lives of all who appreciates going to the bathroom with cockroach’s crawling up your leg and urine all over the floor. Nobody in high school seems to understand simple etiquette and manners when using a bathroom. The ideals are often ignored and overlooked for the sake of getting to class on time.
A work environment requires more consideration for those around you and how your actions impact their health and wellbeing. It is astonishing to realise how quickly germs can spread through basic hygiene neglect. Poor hygiene can contribute towards many health-related problems. We have already explored how infection control can reduce these risks but it is always worth reminding yourself of these.
Sanitation conditions have improved but there are still places where they have not improved. Third-world countries lack food, clean water, and shelter. Scarcity has been a problem for a long time. Natural resources are diminishing. Many people are going hungry and dying because they don’t have enough food and can’t afford shelter.
BODY PARAGRAPH #1 The job responsibilities of an OB/GYN can go as little as prescribing medication for their patient, and as big as performing surgery on their patient. “A gynecologist is also responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of the female reproduction system disorders and diseases. They may become involved in the general healthcare of women related to topics such as nutrition or diseases that affect only women” (How to become a gynecologist). The job responsibilities of an OB/GYN is the patient.
Martin says “An illustration in a widely used medical text shows menstruation as a chaotic disintegration of form, contemplating the many texts that describe it as “ceasing,” “dying,” “losing,” “denuding,” “expelling.” (Martin 486). Martin informs the reader that “one of the texts that sees menstruation as failed production employs a sort of breathless prose when it describes the maturation of sperm” (Martin 486). It is very unprofessional that an author can publish personal feelings like that in a science textbook and it can easily be seen as a way to degrade women. If this is to end then it must take educated individuals who can read this and see the problems as it happens.
Men and women don't understand what each one is going through in society. Girls are expected to be clean and pretty; while boys are messy and rude. But when it comes to school, Parents excepted boy to do well in school, but not the girls. The central issue facing boys and young men in our society is the chances of failing a grade because of the lack of interest, and Lack of study.
Education at the primary level and the proper delivery of important health information. Many of teenagers now are sexually active but don’t know how to use contraceptive methods. Education is the best approach in the promotion of health in this community and provide information on resources will be helpful such as health screen and HPV vaccination at health fairs should be disclosed. To initiate, the implementation of gender equality laws will help conclude unequal treatment towards women and create opportunities for women to refuse unsafe work and treatments. Also, without the right to make individual choices for body, women 's prosperity, well-being, and potential in society are restricted and gender inequality is therefore perpetuated. According to the academic article, Sexual Health’s Women’s Rights, “120 million girls worldwide have experienced forced intercourse” (Ngcuka) activities against their own individual soul. Many women are suffering from forced physical and sexual violence because of the limited laws and regulations that allow women to refuse unsafe treatments and practices. Summary: I have explained in this presentation the importance of sex education in reducing the rates of unwanted pregnancies among the adolescents. Secondly, sex education has been argued to contribute significantly to the reduction of the spread of HIV and AIDS among the adolescents. The third point that I have presented is that abortion levels have declined as a result of sex education targeting the adolescents in schools. Finally, I have argued that sex education results in fewer teenage pregnancies when compared to settings with no such education. 2.
This text is basically a study of gender role differences, how the society views them and what factors lead them to the growth of their gender within them. Additionally, an example of ethos in this text is that there is more than one author/contributor of this text, who are all professors of human development, social and family dynamics at different colleges, with the same perspective of gender differences, in which they clearly accomplished in explaining this to the audience. And it was important too for them to explain, as many people are still living in the world of differentiation. And to take those kinds of people of people we will have to explain them the way the way this text is written. Next, the time when this article was written, gender roles were almost the same as they are now.
There has been progress, today, more girls and women are literate than ever before, and in a third of developing countries, there are more girls in school than boys. Women now make up over 40 percent of the global labour force. In some areas, however, progress toward gender equality has been limited—even in developed countries. Girls and women who are poor, live in remote areas, are disabled, or belong to minority groups continue to lag behind. Too many girls and women are still dying in childhood and in the reproductive ages.
People ashamed while talking about the sex and don’t want to talk by thinking that what images they would have in their society if they talk openly in this topic or rather they think that talking on this topic will down their prestige in society. Since a long time sex education has been a great challenge in regarding whether to consider it in school education or not. There had been many disputes about it. It’s because our Nepali traditional society believes that including sex education in high school education will destroy their children’s character and morality as per them it make them aware about sexual intercourse and they try to do it with practice.
