Convection is the circulation of hot magma. When the hot magma rises from the movement, it can push through the earths surface, causing sea floor spreading. This is the process where new crust is created. When the magma breaks through the oceanic crust, the ocens water colls the magma into rock. Sea ffloor spreading happens at divergent boundaries.
