Still, the benefits of a being a college graduate will never be diminished. Because in fact, that “gap year” could turn into two or even three years of sitting and deciding what to do in life. Or jumping right into working right after high school, leads to realizing there aren’t many jobs to provide and support oneself. Although many may continue to believe that attending college right after high school isn’t the right path for success, taking advantage of gaining a college education right away is essential for success in life because college broadens job and career opportunities and provides necessary experiences to thrive in the real world after school. It is no secret that a college education facilitates opportunities for the most promising careers and jobs in the long run.
For example, there are many different things students can do to help them figure out what they want to do as far as there career. They can take different fields to figure out what’s best for them. Brian Herbert once said “The capacity to learn is a gift; The ability to learn is a skill; The willingness to learn is a choice.” It’s all up to you. Another reason why students should go to college so they can be ready for the real world. Other than working with different people, college students will have to take action and responsibility on their own.
Not everyone has to attends college to do what they want in life or to earn their dream career. “When we praise people who do work that is straightforwardly useful, the praise often betrays an assumption, they had no other options” (Crawford ). People will not only be able to provide for their self, but also their family (“Why Should You Go to College?”). Since college makes it easier to receive a nice paying occupation people would be able take care of their family as well as themselves. College may cost a ton, but most people earn all the money back, because people that attend college accomplish great occupations.
Mark Edmundson observes through his years of teaching that students lack intellectual curiosity as a result of the consumer driven society we live in. He argues that colleges now devoted to consumerism to it’s students. “That usually meant creating more comfortable, less challenging environments, places where no one failed, everything was enjoyable, and everyone was nice.” Colleges fulfill the needs of students to be entertained in their classes. Some professors are now putting an effort to make class enjoyable to students. So students would now expect their college classes to be enjoyable, to be a good class according to them.

In conclusion, social promotion ultimately hurts students far more than it helps. Social promotion creates perpetual cycles of unpreparedness for students as they continue to fall behind in classes. The better solution for struggling students is extra help and counseling.
