Psychology can be defined as the scientific study of human behaviour and mental processes. It can also be defined as the study of human behaviour, thought processes and emotions. Psychology has contributed to the understanding of ourselves and our relationships with other people, if it is applied in an informed way. It is also the science of behaviour and mind, embracing all aspects of conscious and unconscious experience as well as thought. The efforts to study and understand well-being and its cause is not new but it is an issue that has always caused interest to man. Man has devised a way to make the world a better and conducive place where people who have problems can talk to specialized personnel and be well assured that their matter or their problems won’t be leaked out in any way. Man makes decision everyday by weighing up the degree of happiness to be reached by us ourselves or by our loved ones. The self-perception of people, having positive feelings about themselves, a sense of control and an optimistic future provides a driving force form resources not only to cope with this difficulties everyday but also stressful and life threatening to them. The well-being of an individual is a very important factor in psychology as the health determines whether the individual needs psychological help or some areas of rest. Psychology allows people to understand more about how the body and mind work together. This knowledge can help with the decision-making and avoiding stressful situations. It can help with time management, setting and achieving goals, and living effectively. The science not only allows people to be more successful but it can also impact their health. It states that individuals that have negative emotions may weaken the response of the immune system. Positive affects influences responses to stress at different levels. Firstly people enjoying more positive affect do not have so many social conflicts, so the stress will have, while when having to deal with stressful situations people with positive affect have better social networks on which they can rely on. People carry a lot of burden at heart which makes them get tired easily and get worn out easily making them prone to diseases and other health problems. Optimism hope and positive expectations are elements that can protect health in challenging situations for peoples equilibrium by means of dirsct paths. There is tendency that optimism can affect health through the behaviour manifested in life problems also generally in health problems. This behaviour however can prevent chronic stress and complication of physical and psychological problems if used appropriately. It is very relevant as it encourages active strategies to cope with health problems which are related to problems solving behaviours self-care and recovery
