Exercise is an important factor in any weight-loss plan, but the truth is that to lose weight, you need torun a calorie deficit. Raw food diet (tie)
If you can stick to the rules and afford the price of it, you’ll likely shed pounds by only eating foods that are juiced, blended, or dehydrated — not baked, seared, grilled, or processed in any way. The idea behind this diet is that natural, raw foods are packed with nutrients you otherwise steam, process, or cook away.
Because this diet shuns processed and cooked foods, you’re mostly limited to fruits, vegetables, nuts, and legumes in their natural states. Some dieters will occasionally consume raw milk products or certain types of raw meat or fish.
The organic and raw ingredients required to follow this diet can be expensive, especially since you’ll likely need to invest in a quality blender, food processor, and food dehydrator if you want this diet to last long-term. It’s difficult to go 100% raw, and U.S. News & World Report says that many people who follow this diet eat 75 to 80% raw foods in their normal diet.
Keep in mind, however, that experts were concerned about the lack of calcium and calories in the plan, as well as the increased risk of food poisoning from eating all raw foods.

I finally found what I was looking for. I knew this was going to be tough, but well worth it in the end. I stopped buying junk food and started buying Chicken, red meat, vegetables, fat-free milk, and other healthy foods I can eat throughout the day. It was different eating only 1600 calories each day, and I learned how to keep myself full by drinking water before and after each meal. I felt myself getting healthier and I became more active.
Michael Pollan summarizes what we should eat in his book IN DEFENSE OF FOOD. There are many “edible food like substances in the supermarket” (1) indicates his disagreement how people consume processed food from supermarket. So, he advises people to eat whole fresh food and avoid the treated food. “Lots of processed foods and meats…makes people sick and fat” (10). Pollan concerns regarding public health due to processed food and then encourages people to eat lots of fruits and vegetables to be healthy.
Based on the Dietary Guidelines and Healthy People 2020 Objectives, I stand far ahead most of my corresponding Americans, because I genuinely work to improve my health. When contemplating meal choices, I concentrate on low calorie, low fat, and low cholesterol options. I opt for dietary foods containing whole grains, healthy fats, calorie dense, and fresh ingredients. Rather than looking to a fast food chain or grabbing the nearest choice, I research the food I plan to consume and take time to compare my choices. Along with healthy food choices, it stands essential to participate in physical activity, if maximum health remains the goal.

Surrounded with words with Carbohydrates, Glycemic Index and Glucose some people don’t want to have to spend too much time researching how to lose weight. The Weight Watchers diet is a simple and effective method at losing weight and not changing what you eat. The claim that Weight Watchers makes, is that if you follow their pointsplus system of eating that you can lose up to two pounds per month. Many people also are however on the other side and are saying that for example that Weight Watchers is a low carb diet (which can actually make you gain weight, not lose it).

This is an example that accounts towards the weird relationship most Americans have with food. Mary Maxfield might frown upon American’s unhealthy relationship with food on people like Michael Pollan, who makes outrageous claims without any scientific proof. Michael Pollan offers what he considers to be the American paradox – “a notably unhealthy population preoccupied with…the idea of being healthy” (442).

There are some things that would have to be changed in order to make the diet sustainable over a longer period of time. The biggest change that would need to be made, especially for women, is an increase in the amount of iron that the meal plan provides. Iron is a very important nutrient and over time this depletion in iron levels would begin to cause serious health problems. When people are trying to lose weight, they tend to cut out carbohydrates. This is fine, but whole grains are still required for a healthy diet.
Evaluation: In terms of success, I would say that I have both succeeded ad failed my experiment. My success was determined by my ability to reach my goal weight of 195 pounds. However, I failed when it came to following my scientific thesis of only intaking 2440 calories. My success and failures were caused by some predicted and unforeseen events.
If you’ve ever tried to follow nutrition news, then you know that recommendations change all the time. Foods that were once labeled as good for you can, for example, can suddenly be red flagged, and the food you were taught to avoid can all of a sudden be good for you. With all these mixed reviews going around, sticking to a healthy diet plan can be really challenging, which make sense right? It will also make you question the advice you’re receiving from experts, who, like the weather, appear to be changing their views regularly.
Our society has helped create a definition of dieting that is not only harmful to the body but also does not work. The proper definition of a diet would be the food and drink a person consumes daily and the mental and physical circumstances connected to eating. The public’s definition of a diet is to restrict oneself to small amounts or special kinds of food in order to lose weight. Those who engage in this sort of dieting begin with the wrong mentality. They believe by undertaking a diet they will lose weight and keep it off, when in reality most people fail with diets.
