Scientific management is a theory of management that analyses and synthesizes the workflow. The key features of scientific management are time study, functional or divided foremanship, the standardization of all tools and implements used in trades, the standardization of the acts and movements of workmen in each class of work (Blake & Moseley, 2010). Scientific management is developed in 1910s, which is a hundred years ago from now. However, it is still relevant to contemporary organizational context as scientific management has become the foundation of management. Contemporary organization is the modern organization which is well prepared and ready for the future as they have the skills to navigate a complex, uncertain and ambiguous environment. According to the inventor of scientific management, Frederick Winslow Taylor, four of the main principles which makes scientific management relevant to contemporary organizational context are, first, the growth of science in every single part of a job. Second, the technological way to select and train the employees. Third, ensure the cooperation by giving incentives and also provide suitable working environment in order to improve the work results among the employees in a scientific way. Last but not least, the fourth principle is distribute every different part of work into different part of department and also divide duty between workers and management (Blake & Moseley, 2010).
