Social media plays a dominant role in our society and even our daily lives. Social media means a channel people use to connect to each other for sharing, creating and exchanging information and ideas. Social media such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tagged, Foursquare, Instagram, Pinterest, MySpace, GooglePlus, Tumblr, Ask.fm and many more vigorously spread among people in the world not only teenagers and young adults but all different age groups utilize this social media at the present time. According to Oxford Dictionary Online, social media are websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.
I find social media is important because I can stay connect to current issues happening around the world. Perhaps buying and wasting money in newspaper, I can just on social media to read and get know the current issue. Any news and issues spread in social media within a seconds and we don’t have to wait the news to update in the next day morning newspaper. In addition not all the people can sit in front of television all the time to keep following the current issues. Sometimes, people might busy and missed the news time. Moreover, I feel that traditional media filter news according to political control and we, audience seldom missed the real issue on what is the real phenomena happening. Editor plays roles a gatekeeper to filter news before it spread out to audience. In recent, I saw updates about the haze in Indonesia
