With the progress and development of the society, people’s living conditions have been greatly improved. However, there are still many different factors that affect people’s daily life, and become a part of hindering the pace of life. Stress is one of the main factors. Numerous studies show that people who suffer from stress can easily lead to weakness, depression, and anxiety because of the inability to manage stress. University students are a huge group, they are not yet mature. When facing the pressure, they feel helpless frequently. Take first year university students’ experience as an example, this essay will discuss about stress and how to deal with it effectively. On the one hand, learning content related to the knowledge that had not been learned before. They can not be adapted as soon as possible. On the other hand, if they can not manage their studies and reasonable arrangements for time to fully play its own, they will also cause stress. Mcaleer (2015, pp.14-15) stated that “the biggest stresses perhaps include managing study time, exams, assignment deadlines and the understanding and following of new unfamiliar academic regulations”. They can not plan their study properly and academic procrastination makes the task can not be completed in time. When they face the pressure of study, it is easy to produce negative feelings. In order to avoid the generation of stress, they need to have a planned study and make good use of time. In addition to learning to manage their studies, distracting attention is an effective way to relieve stress. Such as listening to music, watching comedy and going outdoors.
