The word sport is a simple term that millions of different people around the world are familiar with. Sports are played a great amount of people with different attitudes, skill sets, and abilities. Sports also have the ability to draw in huge audiences and crowds just for the simple viewing pleasure of the game or contest. There are such a wide variety of different sports as well, with numerous individual and team sports. I can personally say that I have a great deal of experience in the team sports of baseball, football, and basketball. One common theme with team sports, is that a group of individuals come together for an ultimate end goal. For example, in the NFL, all thirty-two teams desire to be Super Bowl champs at the end of the season. The players all have to come together and execute in order to achieve this goal. One question that Walker Percy, author of The Loss of the Creature, might ask, would be: Is coming together to play with a team result in a loss of sovereignty for the individual?
