Why is Technological Communication so Important to our Society?
In today’s time, technological communication has become a necessity and it plays a big part in our society. Many people can not live without technology or function properly without it. People today communicate through faxes, video chats, social media, mobile phones, and emails. As time passes, technology will be more advanced than ever. It will change the way we communicate with each other and it will be up to us to embrace the new technology or not. Society needs this new technology to communicate because it’s easier, faster, and more convenient.
Technology is gaining more speed and strength as time passes, it will never stop moving forward or progressing because of all of the intelligent and creative people that we have. Communication has been improved all because of technology and the way it allows people to talk to others all around the world. “People use technology to communicate with each other. Electronic media like radios, television, internet, social media have improved the way we exchange ideas which can develop our society.” (Ramey page 1) Technology is what people use to voice their concerns

Their phone is their only focus and the only thing that they care about? Have you ever been at a important meeting, work, or even a place where you attention is very important to others in the room? Well those are all good examples of the misuse of technological communication. Not everyone uses technology the way that they should. Technology is very useful when it comes down to a business, school, or any important function. “The ultimate goal for a company is to be able to utilize communication technology productively.” (Lombardo page 4) In order to accomplish this goal there will need to be guidelines and a professional code of conduct for their employees, students, or whomever it may be to understand and the importance of
Technology has improved communication by giving people real time updates, being able to communicate and interact with others worldwide faster. Although communication can be beneficial, there are negative effects as well. As Clarisse addresses the reality of society to Montag she explains that “No one has time any more for anyone else” (Part1 Page 11) anymore. Technology has caused isolation, obesity, lack of social skills, depression, increase in bullying, and pollution. With the internet being available at home, many tends to go on their devices than interacting with
Technology takes away the stress of getting to someone’s house to give them the information. In the article, “Meet Your IBrain: How Technology Changing the Way We Think”, state that, “we develop a better ability to sift through large amounts of information rapidly and decide what’s important and what isn’t- our mental filters basically learn how to shift into overdrive” (146). They believe with the help of technology we are able to receive information within a short amount of time. You may not appreciate technology and how it has made getting information out easy unless you has lived your childhood life in a village, where you have to walk for 30 minutes just to pass around information. It was very hard getting information passed around back in the days.
It seems like every day we hear something about 760mph trains or self-driving cars. Technology is changing the way we think all the time. We are more connected to each other than ever before. We can see and do things that other people before us would only dream about. The use of technologies can change the world.
Technology has revolutionized our society. Everyday, better technology is being manufactured. These different products create a major change in our lives, like the way we communicate. Lack of verbal communication has emerged in the United States significantly. Before different forms of technology were invented, verbal communication was at its highest.
The non-fiction reading called “A Cell of Our Own Making” by Moira Farr concentrated on cellphones and their importance in people’s daily life. The author goes in detail on how cellphones are given more importance and how far we has a society dependent on cellphone. The reading states that “It was now standard to ask student to turn off their cellphones before class, they ring anyways and one of student asked the teacher to leave the class just so he can answer the phone (Farr, 6)”. Farr states student consider cellphone more of an emergency then an actual emergency. The author tells us how people are too invested in their cellphones and how they would prefer talking on the cellphone over in person communication.
Technology is advancing in every society, there is no limit and never will
Technology will not change or replace us as people unless we allow
In the article, Tarshis makes the claim that technology is extremely beneficial to our society in terms of communication. In the text, it states, “Communication can make friendships stronger. ‘There’s definitely a positive impact. Kids can stay in instant contact, which means they can share more of their feelings with each other.’” (Tarshis. 7)
Not only that, technology has shaped social interaction as a whole. Being able to talk to anyone on the Earth is an important milestone and “One of the areas where computers have had the most impact on our lives is how we relate to and communicate with other people” (Stewart). In a world filled with Skype, social media, and email, no longer do people have to leave their house in order to communicate. In fact, according to a study led by John Cacioppo of the University of Chicago 's Department of Psychology, roughly one-third of romantic relations start by meeting online. This goes to show how huge of an impact technology has had on communication.
Especially when someone is trying to get school work done, if they start using their phone, then it takes them so much longer to get that work done than if they had just put the phone down and do it. Smartphones are too much of a distraction to people, and it is sometimes hard to put them down. People nowadays rely so much on their smartphones and it is not okay. For example, for directions they just use the navigation map on ones phone instead of knowing how to get there by looking at directions.
Ancient forms of human communication include cave drawings, smoke signals, symbols, and carrier pigeons. During the late 1800’s, communication became more advanced with the invention of the typewriter and the telephone. Roughly one hundred years later, a military project resulted in what we know today as the internet. With a little innovation, the internet made social interactions between people easier than ever, although, the convenience may come at a cost. Some theories suggest that heavy reliance on social media for human interaction will weaken communication skills, hinder meaningful social interactions, and negatively impact personal relationships.
Technology has always been progressing thus it is rampant in our society today. We use technology; depend on technology in our daily life and our needs and demands for technology keep on rising (Ramey, 2012). Wherever you look, you will see people holding different kinds of technology like cell phone, laptop, tablets and etc. It appears to most of us that technology is a necessity to the point where we can no longer live without it. According to Gavin (2013), technology moves at a rapid pace, and can be hard to keep up with at times.
There are some arguments against using cell phones during class hours. Cell phones are very unstoppable to the students and it should not be use to them inside the classroom. What can we do? Well, there are many things we can do when a cell phone is found on a student. The phone will be confiscated and a phone home will be required.
