The Aqueduct of Segovia is one of the oldest and most intact Aqueducts worldwide. Segovia itself is located in the middle of Spain, just one hour away from Madrid.
Aqueducts are structures made in the Roman Empire to transport water to valleys or cities without direct water supply. This elaborate system was the most important tool to keep the hygiene level of the cities good. Partly because the water from Aqueducts was the only water without contamination but also because it was free of human waste.
Sometimes that water would even be used to flush out the city and get out of the human excrements. The water usually gets taken from a spring, which also means a high up position for the source of water, like mountains, which makes the Aqueduct work without any external help but only the force of gravity.
The Aqueduct from Segovia was built within the first century and is one of the oldest Aqueducts in such a good shape. The function of the Aqueduct was to connect functionality with aesthetics which is also really typical for Roman engineering. The Aqueduct from Segovia has its source in the mountain of Alcanzar and reaches through the whole city of Segovia up until the end of town. It is also possible to climb the city wall and have a look at the Aqueduct from an interesting angle.

All these minerals allowed eventually for Rome to strengthen its powers as a powerful force in the ancient world. In addition to all of that Rome developed new trade routes with the capturing of Gaul. It was located between the Mediterranean sea and near the more northern part of Europe. This had made it an important place for trade. It was so important because the Mediterranean was the main spot where all trade would flow through.
Building of canals improved the process to speed goods to market. Erie Canal was an important canal that connected the great Lakes to New York City, opening the upper Midwest to wider development. The canals were also the first transportation system between New York City along the western part of the United States. Indeed, canals was a very efficient way to transport supplies, it’s was a cheaper way. The Erie made a huge impact and contribution to the wealth of New York City.
The colosseum is an ancient building in Rome. The colosseum was a large outdoor stadium that could set 50000 people. In the colosseum they had gladiator games,mock battles and chariot racing .Aqueduct was a long channels that is built to carry water. The water was used for drinking,baths and sewers. Baalbek is a grand temple in Rome to worship the God of heaven.
