Monaco is a very small country, and it is hard for them to keep up with their growing population, because they are such a small country they have made plans to expand on the ocean, but many environmental scholars have reached out and said that it would harm the marine life. The major problems with Monaco creating casinos and apartment buildings on the ocean is that they could possibly lose money, it causes sand erosion, and ig will kill and damage the homes of the marine animals on the coast of Monaco. One of the many things that would happen if they continue with this plan is that Monaco could face having financial troubles. According to The Telegraph Monaco has started to work on a €2 billion project that will take up to 15 acres from …show more content…
In different beaches around the world there is a problem with sand erosion. Sand erosion is the wearing away of land and the removal of beach or sand dunes sediments by water. Although the building of the structures in Monaco isn 't creating sand erosion directly it is still making sand erosion a bigger problem. The way that Monaco are building these structures on the ocean there is a lot of sand involved. After they have built the foundation they fill the sea trapped inside with various rocks and sand shipped from the beaches of Sicily. In Italy in various areas there has been threats of sand erosion, and they are trying to monitor coastal erosion of Northern Sicily. The more and the more buildings that are created the more and more sand that is removed which adds to the already existing problem of sand …show more content…
In the article by the telegraph environmentalist have tried to bring awareness to this issue, and say that it will damage the sea life around Monaco. Biologist Alexandre Meinesz said “the small stretch of shallow waters and off the shore before the sea rabidly deepens is a veritable nursery with five hundred types of seaweed and thousands of marine organisms and little fish.” He also said “covering over these shallow seabed will reduce the biodiversity.” The already existing ports have contributed to destroying its seabed, but won’t compare to the damage that will be created by the apartment complex. With all of everything that has gone on, and environmentalist warning Monaco they still say they will try to move the animals to a sanctuary, but there is not much they can do about the seaweed. They are working on ways to make artificial coral reefs and seaweed, but it will never be the same to the fish as the natural seaweed that is in the water. Everything you do has pros and cons, but the plans for Monaco to expand has too many cons and not enough pros. Monaco’s idea to expand isn’t bad if they could figure a way to do it that didn’t put their marine life and ecosystem at risk. The building of Monaco structures in the ocean comes the possibility of debt, the worsening of sand erosion,
We walked along the beach a little more and talked and looked at the location of a whale skull that used to be buried in the sand. The rock was actually much smoother than . We also took a look at some possible bones and skeletal remains along with concretions. The concretions were rather large comparable to smart car in size. Concretions are solid masses formed around some type of matter that will change the chemistry of the rock slightly, helping it become harder and less susceptible to erosion.
Cape cod has an interesting back story filled with slow moving glaciers. The sandy formation juts out into the Atlantic Ocean and is home to fascinating creatures year round. However the landform its self is far more interesting. From immense sand formations to unique current and tide movement, the oceanic spaces are captivating. The pressure of the open Atlantic with the added pressure above from the ever changing gulf of Maine create a diverse set up of bits and ends of curious patterns.
Introduction (Hook…. need to think this through better) The Keystone Pipeline has been debated for sometime now. Why is it so controversial? Many worry that it will intrude on property rights, while others believe that it will be a danger to the environment.
The shoreline disintegration brought on by Hurricane Katrina truly destroyed shorelines and whole islands. The ranges influence by Hurricane Katrina had as of now been debilitated by Hurricane Ivan a year prior, and the toll brought on by Katrina totally changed the scene. The Chandeleur Islands, off the shoreline of Louisiana, no more exist after Hurricane Katrina, and the celebrated beacon on those islands was decimated. Disintegration from Hurricane Georges in 1998 had already everything except pulverized the island, however they had improved when Katrina hit. Since Katrina, land studies have demonstrated that the islands are not changing.
Cool, calm crashing waves along the coast of the Great Lakes is an timeless picture many generations have enjoyed. The Great Lakes have the same beautiful views as it does in years past. However, the inside of the lakes have completely changed. It’s no longer the same lake your grandfather knows nor will it be the same lake for your grandchildren.
The barriers were formed during periods of slow sea-level rise. The findings of this study serve as important information for examining human impact and potential management of barrier islands. This study showed that the creation and reshaping of the barriers are weather depending. Human development along coastlines including hotels and jetties, influence the natural processes that affect the barriers. This leads to server erosion, which in turn causes that damage from storms to be more harmful along the coast.
Louisiana 's marshes are constantly changing, and it 's costing a lot of money to save it. The cost is $14 billion to stop coastal erosion, which is at a rate of losing 2.5 acres of land per hour. New Yorkers should help pay for the cost too, as they are also being affected levees, man-made and natural causes, economically, environmentally, and socially. The main problem with the marshes is coastal erosion, which is affected greatly by levees.
Calculations for tourism for the year of 2015 are unavailable at this time, but for the year of 2014, the reef received a total of 2.19 million visitors. It is a well – known piece of information that there is a global climate change going on where there is a rise in CO2 in the atmosphere due to higher emissions of fossil fuel and more deforestation occurring. The ocean then absorbs more of this CO2, which in turn raises the acidity, which in turn creates a poor environment for the coral to live and recover from bleaching that has already occurred. This change in acidity also affects the calcium carbonate that corals use to build themselves. (“Climate Hot Map- Global Warming Effects Around the
The Board doesn't think enough ocean habitats are safe. They support this with “only 1 percent of marine habitats (are) strictly protected” (par.12). This last statistic allows the reader to realize just how much needs to
Water pollution has the potential to kill many species of fish and marine life, disrupting the ecosystem. Along with pollution, fishing, boating, and diving can cause damage and disrupt the natural order. While tourism is wonderful, some of the activities associated with tourism can severely damage the coral and the marine life. This is why the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary is such an important part of keeping the Keys a great place for marine life to thrive. This sanctuary provides protection for many species and ecosystems and helps to keep the Keys safe from its greatest danger: man.
As well as, SeaWorld’s money is dropping at a very fast rate. Seaworld should be closed to end the companies dropping of money completely, to let the animals’ live free lives, and to save the Orcas. First, Seaworld has experienced a big drop in money. In the past year, they have dropped one million visitors (Cornin). One person’s admission in the park is 30
“The Disadvantages of Artificial Coral Reefs” from Pets on Mom.me,
The tourists who visit Lee County are awfully repugnant and it seems that as a whole the tourists have something akin to a complete loss of decency and common sense. The tourists display poor driving skills coupled with a high propensity for the destruction of public property and consistently high blood alcohol levels. These are a few examples of the offensive behaviors that the tourists burden the locals of Lee County with. This is no small demographic either there are a large number of tourists that they seemingly outnumber the local residents. Without doubt, the local residents endure the most intolerable behavior from the tourists at the height of tourist season.
Many people lose their livelihood, for e.g. farmers. These people will need to be compensated, which is usually costly. The cost depends on amount of compensation to be paid to the local people affected by erosion. Land Management Maintenance of sand dunes provide a natural defence against the sea.
Therefore, the impact of overfishing and illegal collecting of coral may destroyed the social and economic well-being of the coastal communities who depend on fish for their way of life. Beside, it is also direct overexploitation of fish, intertebrates, and algae for food and the aquarium trade, removal of a species or group of species impacting multiple trophic levels, bycatch and mortality of nontarget species, and change from coral to algal dominance due to reduction in herbivores (Reef Resilience Organisation,
