Patience is a virtue. History projects some biblical characters who waited and never gave up. Abraham waited for 25 years. Joseph waited for 15 years. Moses waited for 40 years. Jesus waited for 30 years.

David had a unique devotion to the Lord. God looks at the heart of man while man foolishly tries to work his way into favor with God. God reads the hearts or the inner most thoughts and desires of all humans. In spite of the flaws, David had the passion and the hunger for God. He always desired to please and bring honor to his God. The same applies to other biblical character that found favor with God: Rehab was definitely from the wrong side of the tracks. She was a Gentile and a prostitute but she was used by God and saved because of her hunger for God (Joshua 2:15-24). Cornelius, a Gentile without the Law was a devout man with hunger for God. He became the first Gentile to have the Pentecost experience of receiving the Holy Spirit (Acts 10). God alone is perfect, and He accepts us on condition of His perfection through Jesus Christ. Jesus said that He is the vine and we are branches. The fruit we produce hangs on the branch but belongs to the vine (Christ).
