Hurricane Sandy destroyed many buildings along the east coast. Sandy was a category one through four hurricane and that is a very dangerous hurricane. Those categories showed in all the destruction that was left after the storm. There were thousands of homes that were destroyed because of the flooding and the high winds that ripped through the towns. Many of people’s homes were not even in the same place because the high flooding picked the houses up off the ground and were move with the water. Most of those homes were the beach homes that were along the beach or were in towns that were on the beaches. The winds ripped roves off homes and toppled over trees and the trees were all over the place so many homes were him by the trees or the feel over the road so people could not pass the road in their cars. Then some of the trees fell over the power lines and shut down all the power in that area. With the trees falling all over the place there was floods because the trees backed up the rivers and streams then the rain did not help because it rained for many days strait. The rain also affected the cities because the city’s sewer plants flooded. The rain also flooded the subways. The subways were completely full of water. The subways were still not in use months after the hurricane because it cracked the concrete in the subways. The cost of all the damages amounted up to 75 million United States dollars (Dunbar, 2013). There were at least 117 deaths in the United States as a cause of hurricane sandy 40 of the fatalities were caused by flooding. Hurricane Katrina destroyed over 1 million acres throughout the Gulf Coast and over 80% of New Orleans was flooded. Most of New Orleans was below water for days and many other areas were under water for weeks. Since then recovery in New Orleans has been challenging. Can you believe it? We’re abandoning Louisiana; but should we? Recently, the state of Louisiana has endured negligence from the United States and its people. Personally, it is sad to see that one of our conjoined states is being neglected. This is all because of the natural disasters that have been targeting the poor state. Because of all of the destruction and devastation that has taken place, most people feel it’s best to give up on our beloved state. We shouldn’t abandon Louisiana because United States’ citizens should learn to care for their entire nation; citizens should learn how to take cover and protection when these horrendous events take place, and Louisiana needs schools, workplaces, and homes for their community so they can flourish once again along with the rest of the country.

Florida’s ecosystem is forever being changed as we know it. Florida’s invasive species list is rapidly growing making it more difficult for native species to compete. Every day invasive species are released in Florida 's waterways, forest, and swamps wreaking havoc on the native plant and animal life. Everyday people are able to walk into a common pet store and buy their very own python, tegu, or a lionfish perhaps. Most of the people enjoy the animal at first, but they are not prepared for the future responsibilities that follow. They end up in your backyard, your local canals, and even in your neighborhood parks. We must find a way to stop this terrible issue.

A mass of residents and businesses in Columbia were engulfed by over a foot of rainfall overnight (East Coast Rain). “Sunday was the wettest day in the history of Columbia, according to the National Weather Service. The rainfall total at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport was 6.87 inches, the most rain that's ever fallen there in one day” (South Carolina Flood).

Due to the recent events, the groups of society have been majorly affected. The flood that happened in South Carolina, not only destroy many homes and family but also changed many of the social group and the socialization by people.

“Millions of lives were changed in a day by a cruel and wasteful storm” (George W. Bush). George W. Bush said this quote after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast. Hurricanes are deadly natural disasters that affect people every year. They have a very complex way of forming, and each storm is distinguished by its characteristics. After hurricanes, people and the environment are deeply harmed. From Katrina to Matthew, there are many notable hurricanes that have hit the United States mainland. The idea of hurricanes is very frightening and an interesting part of nature.
