A fundamental principle of humanity, tying together people is helping others. In times of tragedy, stories about helping the nation to recover after natural disasters or terrorist attacks are very inspiring and stimulate to give aid to other people. A lot of people even devote their lives to helping others, for instance, customer services and volunteering workers who risk their lives for the common good, police force that protects cities and fire brigades that save burning buildings. One of the ways of expressing an act of good will and helping others is giving aid to the older people, especially those who have no relatives and live in the infirmaries. We should respect all people in the society, from the very young to the very old, but the most …show more content…
Through serving older people, young people learn that growing old is a natural process; they usually gain an appreciation and increase their self-estimation. Even old people with cognitive limitations and significant memory loss enjoy the visit, though they may not remember it after that. Such positive effect appears only after series of visits when both the young and the old can better understand each other; know how to trust each other that plays an essential role for building meaningful relationships between people of any age. Of course, many barriers exist in this process mainly referring to the facts that they have communication difficulties, feel uncomfortable, do not know what to say to each other and are not confident. To make it easier, the younger generation should learn something about such people, their interests, needs, and limitations, and respect their privacy and wishes. Like behaving with any other person, people need to be grateful, polite, don’t forget such words like “please’’ and “thank you”, and keep their
“To work with the elderly, one must have compassion and patience” (Warta, par.5). This is something we all should know because elderly do not have enough strength to keep themselves moving alone all the time. They move slower and to work with them you need plenty of patience if not that is not the best place for you to work. When I first arrived before even beginning to volunteer there, we passed this big cafeteria and everybody was moving slow. I was just secretly looking because I knew many elderly do not like to be starred at especially from me that looks way too young to be there.

The elderly are a largely growing population but they are treated as a minority group. They are placed in assisted living care for numerous reasons such as convenience, health issues, and distress of the informal caregiver. Although assisted living may seem like the best situation for our aging society the movie suggests that this may not be the case. There are many special instances that the elderly have to deal with, such as elder abuse and fraud, as depicted in the movie. Further investigation must be applied in order to limit the number of events like those of Joan Boice, Merle, and George
First, by having specialist provision locally you have local expertise, which can be used to provide training and outreach to prevent placements breaking down in the first place. Second, supporting young people locally makes it significantly easier to reintegrate them back into less specialist provision. If they are placed in an appropriate environment and supported by staff with appropriate skills it is often possible to reduce levels of anxiety and resulting behaviours fairly

Young people feel safe and parents and professionals concur with this view overall. This is due to the action taken by staff to protect young people from risks associated with child sexual exploitation and radicalisation. Young people have significantly reduced the occasions that they go missing from the home, which maximises their safety because staff know where they are and can monitor them. When young people have left the home without authority, staff search for them and follow the agreed missing from care protocols. Staff effectively use the services of the independent advocate whose good rapport with the young people enables informal chats about the reasons why young people go missing.
Respect is a big part of our lives still. Although the presence of many of the virtuous Native American values is very meager today, this one still exists as a miniscule glimmer across our lives. One must have respect for others to first have respect for themselves. You make a choice of how people will see you: as a incorrigible person, or as a respectful person. People will usually treat you accordingly.
Kids and young adults must honor our parents and elders, because that is the respectful thing to do. We also love our friends like how
Although, in today 's society disrespect is more common that is not the case for everyone. Respect is something that people have or they do not; it is mainly taught
Young @ Heart There are countless known stereotypes that allude to senior citizens; many people believe: senior citizens are lazy, isolated and in poor health, the list could go on and on. The documentary Young @ Heart totally eliminates these stereotypes and discards many of the misconceptions people have towards senior citizens. Young @ Heart documents a chorus of senior citizens, directed by Bob Cilman, as they rehearse for their monumental “Alive and Well” performance in their hometown.

The social environment is no more immune to the passage of time than is the human body” (Teas and Benignton, 1982, pg. 12). Teas and Benignton discuss the industrial and political world developed the idea that the old are less valuable employees then the youth (1982, pg.17). The late adulthood stage needs to express the importance of self-sufficiency, individualism, and even privacy in the psychosocial development. During this time in one’s life they are possibly experiencing great loss of individualism. Kaufman discusses the observation of family members of the elderly who feel they must be the decision
It means that they have different experience, lifestyle, communication skills or physical disabilities and cause the barriers between them. The teenagers will believe that they have no common interests and topic to talk or share with older people, resulting in poor communication. Moreover, the barriers block the transmission of messages and lead to misunderstanding. In order to better analyze this phenomenon, I will use my daily experience to discuss the barriers between teens and elderly. Also, I would like to suggest some solutions for building up the good communication between them.
