Due to the changes experienced it is very easy for the adolescents to be into risk taking, improper decision making and lack of academic achievement. They have to be helped through this stage to navigate away from the risks and build up on their potential (UNICEF, 2011). These changes negatively influence the academic interest and motivation to attend school. Risk taking, high social media usage and substance abuse behaviours lead to academic drop out, academic de motivation, academic maladjustment, and lack of academic engagement. The problems exist at global and national level. These academic problems lead to a situation, where there is insufficient participation of the student in academics. There are certain social factors that lead to low academic achievement. They are found in the form of regionalism and communalism that can lead to delinquency in adolescents. Not very less is their contribution to distorted thinking and attitude towards the society. In this condition, the academic aim is lost. When other aspects are taken on priority basis, over academics, it leads to academic low achievement. Another area within this is the socio economic status, where the relation between socio economic status and education continue to be somewhat circular with directly proportional relationship between the two. This relationship to be broken at any point depends on the way of thinking and attitude towards education. Academic achievement turns out to be an outcome in all these situations. Cultural dimension affecting the minorities and immigrants are not far from having an impact on academic achievement, having the capacity to turn out to be a risk factor, if not adequately supported socially and psychologically. These populations have to be given adequate assistance with the transition and adjustment psychologically, along with policy wise revisions. Emotional issues of worthlessness, excessive worrying, mood fluctuations, low self confidence, indecisiveness, lack of direction, and identity crisis, impact the academic performance and achievement. Physical ailments too affect the academic achievement ( Mohammedayupkhan & Mani 2014; Kumaraswamy, 2012). Victimization, aggressiveness, family conflict, poor monitoring at home, uneducated parents, and social rejection by peers are potential non academic risk factors to academic performance (CDC, 2015).
