Every day more people get connected to the Internet, increasing the number of users all over the world. This fact is probably the main technological advantage that has altered the way we see or we practice politics partially due to the global impact that it has. The Internet allows people to be aware of what is happening in the daily situation and so to know how politics is being exercised all over the world. Being aware means that people can give their opinions or they can support a political party in another country for example. However, to define a foreseeable future we should not only focus on the Internet but also it is necessary to think on the technological development as a whole.
Let’s use an example of how technology has changed

Politicians will be asked to change and offer new policies to the citizens due to the new technologies and this is why those areas will affect politics. This is the case of the workplace for example. New technology means progress and efficiency, which is better achieved with machinery. For that reason, companies have started to mechanize the production. This means that machines are taking over and firing people form their workplaces, increasing unemployment. Consequently, politics have already been altered (and it will keep doing it) because politicians are now offering solutions for this problem. Politicians will have to face in the future the possibility of mechanizing the production of companies and so replace the workers into other works rather than having them unemployed. Just like this example there are many others in terms technologies affecting politics in an indirect way, for instance; the increase of inequality due to the different levels of technological development between countries or the modification of security by increasing the technological advances in the army for a possible future technological
Comedian Jon Stewart states “The Internet is just a world passing around notes in a classroom”. In the chapter “Public Thinking” from the book Smarter Than You Think, Clive Thompson addresses the topic of modern day technology, and argues that the internet is an effective and useful tool which positively impacts the way people think. Thompson is a contributing writer for The New York Times and Wired Magazine, as well as author of the book Smarter Than You Think with degrees in Political Science and English. He supports this claim by referring to Ory Okolloh, a law student and blogger about Kenyan politics and corruption, and describing her positive experience with the internet. He then refers to the “audience effect” which can clarify the mind and change one’s performance.
Technology shapes an everyday society. It all falls under a family tree. Cars were invented, then roads, road laws, licensing, etc. It’s like technology has an effect on what is yet to come.
What corrupts the change/ advancement is the treatment of it by the people. The internet was an attempt at transforming communication which was needed at that stage . The myriad purposes ( illegal ones) it is being used for now is the abuse of change. This also extends to the aspects of latent and manifest functions where the manifest function is that a number of visible positive has come from internet. On the flipside, the latent functions have 1.Made human life too digital 2.Created a superstructure of ‘surveillance’.
The National Science Foundation has predicted the future when they said, “technology will have transformed American home, business, manufacturing, school, family and political life.” The report ' 'Teletext and Videotex in the United States, ' ' cites that teletext and videotext will blow everyone’s minds just like vehicles and televisions did. The results of this can be positive to open the doors for a variety of family activities, hobbies, and legacies. Yet the rise of technology, and especially videotext, can result in negativity, because it is most likely the privacy will decrease further. This goes beyond family life, as political and economic issues can be held at risk.
Technology is advancing very rapidly, but is it hurting or harming us? In the article, “ Is Google Making Us Stupid”, by Nicholas Carr, he examines how the internet has altered people’s mental abilities. Malcolm Gladwell writes an article called, “ Small Change”, in which he draws attention to how the internet has changed the engagement of social activism. Carr’s argument that the internet alters a person's mental abilities, changes their thought process, and destroys their concentration complicates Gladwell’s point that the internet loses the meaning of social activism, changes how activist are defined, and it takes over activism on a social level, because the arguments presented are similar but the outcomes of the internet vary between the
In “Defense of Technology” Andrew O’Hagan talks about how technology is making life get better as time goes by, technology is improvement and improvement like never before. Every part of our daily life
1.1 Background of the Research Technology has always develop for a long time. Until today, it is still develops at a stunning pace. As a matter of fact, technology has touched every aspect of life; from the way we move by using a horse changed into automobile, from walking on the land to flying in the air and reach farther distance. The products we are using in our daily life also produced by the technology. Under those circumstances, including the economy, politics, and also society, are affected by technology.
The modernization of the web can have positive and negative consequences on the world. It is sure in light of the fact that it gives everyone the power to access any information, that they need in second. In any case, it is contrary since individuals start to get limited focus and just focus on the things they need to see as opposed to seeing the full picture. To begin with, The Loneliness of the Interconnected is an essay on how the internet
Clay Shirky, the author of “Does the internet make you smarter?” wrote about how ignorance has poisoned the internet with incorrect information. Not only does technology has its flaws, but so do books and novels dating back to the Protestant Reformation. Even though many people are against the internet Shirky reassures that if used correctly and appropriately, then it can become a very useful tool that can “tap our cognitive surplus”. The increased collaboration of technology is important to society for the reason that the internet is full of valuable knowledge that can be claimed very quickly and easily. Increased collaboration is absolutely a benefit.
In 1988, the Internet was opened to the public. At that time, not many people were aware of what a huge impact the Internet would have on the lives of future generations and cultures. While it was at first widely accepted by many users because of its astonishingly convenient and unlimited access to information, the enthusiasm for the Internet has more recently diminished and even disappeared in some cases. Many people no longer view the Internet as a helpful tool, but more as a harmful weapon, attacking every area of our lives, including education, communication, literacy, attention span, memory, intelligence, relationships, politics, economics, even sleep, diet, and physical activity. The Internet is ultimately affecting and determining the
Technology has always been progressing thus it is rampant in our society today. We use technology; depend on technology in our daily life and our needs and demands for technology keep on rising (Ramey, 2012). Wherever you look, you will see people holding different kinds of technology like cell phone, laptop, tablets and etc. It appears to most of us that technology is a necessity to the point where we can no longer live without it. According to Gavin (2013), technology moves at a rapid pace, and can be hard to keep up with at times.
Technology began to rise when the World Wide Internet was introduced on August 6, 1991. Throughout the years people have been on the bend to make technology bigger and better. With the advancement of cell phones, fax machines, computers and televisions the way things were 20 years ago are so much different. Technology has made us see the world at a different angle.
Social media was developed to link people to the world and is an effortlessly convenient method for communication. Due to this, people are able to get in touch with just about anyone from all over the world and it no doubt has an incredible amount of influence on our lives. However, not all of it may be positive. Almost everyone is aware of how social media impacts us on a micro scale, but what about the influence it has on a macro level? Interestingly enough, it has taken a tremendous toll on politics.
Communication Technology Technology has changed our lifestyle and is continuing to alter it. Every aspect of our life has been somehow touched by technology. However, technology has made a significant impact on the way we communicate and new communication technologies are continuously improving and being used in everyday life. It has become an essential part of most our lives because we, as a human species, have always had this deep desire to communicate, and to communicate over distance. The obstruction of connecting two regions has drastically decreased due to the fact that we now have mobile phones, Internet, and social media to make life easier.
