I have chosen this particular theme because the internet is a constantly evolving form technology that I have found to be a very interesting and controversial issue. A standard definition of the internet, as given by google, is that it is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard internet protocol (TCP/IP) to provide a variety of information and communication facilities. The internet is one of the most impressive recent advancements in the world of information technology and has become a useful instrument that has fostered the process of making the world a global village thus providing several opportunities for the academia. It is a mechanism for information dissemination and a medium for collaborative interaction between individuals and their computers without regard for geographic limitation of space (Awais, Bilal, M Usman, M Waqas , & Sehrish, 2008). This is a universal fact that the use of internet has a great impact on the student’s academic achievements (Dr. Chongtham Beda Devi & Dr. Nil Ratan Roy, 2012).
During my research I have noticed that there is a correlation between students, their academic performance and internet usage. The student’s responses were very ‘general’ when we began to discuss the ways in which the internet had impacted their education. They would give examples such as that the internet would assist them in online shopping for textbooks, make communication between them and their teachers faster and more efficient,
