The Great Wall did not work 100% of the time, but it still helped protect China. No, the Great Wall did not always keep the Mongols out, nor did it ensure the safety of every person. But what we do know is that if it weren’t for the Great Wall, China would not nearly be as successful as it is today. "Heavy fighting against the Xiongnu during much of the 2nd century BCE" (Document E). As I stated above the Great Wall did not ensure the safety of every person.
In the past recent years, there have been numerous terrorist attacks on America like 9/11, The Boston marathon bombing, and the Oklahoma beheading. Many attacks that were done in the past years have been done without the use of guns. The democratic government, however, thinks that by banning guns it will simply stop terrorism because there would be no violence. What the government fails to realize is that if someone really wanted to commit an act of terrorism then they will find a way to do it. The democratic government in the past and until recently has been missing this key point and offer a simple minded, ineffective solution to a problem that is much bigger than just the use of guns.
In the past, the major gun control legislations that have been put into effect have not stopped people from obtaining firearms (Gun Control.) There have also been cases in the past where cities have attempted to ban handguns. After the ban was put into effect, murder rates tended to rise instead of drop, unlike what most people might assume. Crime rates and violence also skyrocketed after the bans were put into effect. Another problem with taking guns away, or banning them, is that the government cannot expect everyone to abide by the laws.
Crooked Agents were bribed to “look away” from people buying liquor. Even workers in the government wouldn’t help with the prohibition, they wouldn’t spend any money on enforcing it. When criminals smuggled alcohol they could easily get away with it because there would be so little patrol at the many miles of the country 's border. (Document C) The men who made the prohibition were not following its rules. Many congressmen were violators of the Volstead Act.
The Great Wall of China: Did the Benefits Outweigh the Cost? The Qin and Han dynasty built the notorious wall we know today as The Great Wall of China. Although, The Great Wall of China has many benefits, but it does come with some costs. The benefits of the wall are great I do not think they out weigh the costs. For example, in document c, it states that they lost many people of their civilization. This means they would lose soldiers to protect the wall. That is not a good thing they need all those people to have an army. Now another cost that involved the wall was they would have less space and have not as much food which was code into document a.They would have to go out and risk there lives to find food and also go on a trek just for
When they built the Hagia Sophia many new architectural techniques and combinations of techniques were used that the Romans had never dreamed of. They made a spherical shaped dome which helped to support more of the building’s weight and required less material than previous Roman architecture. (Document 4). Also, the Roman Empire had so much violence with emperors constantly fighting over power that they would not have been able to advance their skills in such a way to create something like the Hagia Sophia. Also the Romans traded for silk at expensive prices from Persia and China, but the Byzantines thought to learn how to make the silk from the Persians so that they could make it themselves.
Few substances in history have had as profound an effect on human history as gunpowder... and its discovery was an accident! Ancient alchemists in China spent centuries trying to discover an elixir of life that would render the user immortal. One important ingredient in many of the failed elixirs was saltpeter, also known as potassium nitrate. During the Tang Dynasty, around 850 A.D., an enterprising alchemist (whose name has been lost to history) mixed 75 parts saltpeter with 15 parts charcoal and 10 parts sulfur. This mixture had no discernable life-lengthening properties, but it did explode with a flash and a bang when exposed to an open flame.
amendment is also not granted by the US constitution. To many people, the second amendment is not clear. It confuses a lot in that some people argue that those that have the rights to possess firearms for self-defense are only the military. It does not specify that the citizens have the right to own firearms for self-defense and personal use. A study conducted by a Yale Professor showed that the “shall-issue” laws resulted in a rise in the rates of the violence, crimes, rape, and robbery hence with this it could be concluded that ownership of firearms by citizens lead to an increase in the crime rates.
With all presidents there comes the good and the bad, as for the bad George failed to deal with the many of the problems at home in the country instead focused mostly on the problems of other countries. This could have been because he was very familiar in dealing with foreign affairs causing him to ignore the domestic problems. An example of his failure to focus on America was he failed to create a new plan for the international environment and to place any responsibility on the United States. Even though he was able to decrease drug use in the middle class in the lower class drug use increased. Many presidents sometimes do not have the best relationship with Congress but eventually they work out their differences, especially when you are a Republican Party with a democratic influenced Congress.

Gunpowder is one of the greatest breakthroughs, but whether it has helped or hurt the human race more is debatable. Guns allowed us to make hunting easier when it was essential to hunt to survive. On the other hand, gunpowder has also allowed the creation of huge weapons of mass destruction and has caused billions of deaths worldwide. On the other hand, men waged war before the invention of guns. So it can be said that guns were not the cause of all those deaths, they just made it easier to create destruction and death on a massive scale.
