A vast amount of time had passed among the first inhabitants of Alaska and when the Ipiutak first emerged. The first evidence of the Ipiutak occurred around ca 1,800 uncal. BP and only lasted to ca. 1000 uncal. BP. The Ipiutak culture only lasted around 800 years, but among that time they made major impacts and offered great insight on how to survive in the arctic. Too fully understand how the Ipiutak people survived in the harsh arctic environment of northwestern Alaska one needs to fully understand Alaska and its climate and ecosystems, as this will give better insight into their everyday challenges, and why the Ipiutak lived like they did.

This tragic event proves that the law cannot jeopardize the Iñupiaq people’s way of living. This event showed leadership by taking pride in the culture, working together, and by making the citizens of Barrow voices heard. The warden first arrested John Nusunginya for hunting ducks off- season and shortly after Tommy Pikok Sr. Pikok was outraged due to the fact that he could not provide food for his family and therefore, he kept rebelling.
Did you know that the Inuits and Dene people live in under -30 degrees Fahrenheit? They both also started their tribes around 1000 BC. They also adapted to their environment in different ways and do many procedures that were crucial to their survival like hunting, fishing, and drying animal pelts. The Dene and Inuits are very similar in many ways. For example, they both live in the northern part of Canada.
Siku has an Inuit mother and Viking father, but he still sticks with the Tunit. Lastly, Kannujaq helped the Tunit even though he is Inuit. Firstly, shortly after the conflict between the Vikings and Tunit had ended, Siaq said that she wanted to stay with the Tunit instead of the Inuit. This is shocking information at first glance on account of the Tunit leader, Angula, who enslaved her.
First off the weather is so cold there that they have igloos as houses. That means that they can use their surrounding ice and snow to build a home that can stay there even through the summer. The Inuit can also build houses out of wood but it is very rare to see in a village because there are not a lot of trees in the arctic for them to cut down and build as houses, plus it takes more effort and work when they could just have an igloo and get other more important things done. Next thing that is different between the other two tribes is that the Inuit think that they are the most important barometer in the world because what happens in the world, like global changes, always happen there first. Therefore we can figure out what’s gonna happen to us in the next few years from the information based off of the arctic.
Chapter Review (pg. 6-29) A: Human migration across the globe was the complete spread of the human species over much of the earth’s surface. The species began in eastern Africa; most types of humans come from this region, in the present day countries of Tazmania, Kenya, and Uganda. Main discoveries, especially fire and the use of animal skins for clothing-both of which allowed people to live in colder climates-facilitated the spread of Paleolithic groups. The first people moved out of Africa about 750,000 years ago.
Indigenous groups, and their relationships to the land and the environment, are connected deeply to the core. Land and environment is a part of their identity, and is rooted in their culture and history. Innu tribe, which sometimes are called Montagnais, or Naskapi, are aboriginal peoples, who are located in areas of Quebec and Labrador. Montagnais, which is translated in French as mountain people. Having been born and bred outside the United States, the city I grew up was more influenced by the people of India rather than Native people. Therefore, I began to search the Internet for Native tribes where I came across the Duwamish tribe. The Duwamish tribe lived in Seattle, Washington from the past 10,000 years, making them one of the oldest Native tribes that we know of in the entire world. Today, the Duwamish tribe are one of the few federally recognised Native tribes. In this research project I intend to gain a better understanding as to how a Native tribe that has existed since the glacier age has escaped being eradicated through both wars and disease.

The area of the Khina culture is a plateau region in the mountains, surrounded by slopes and lots of rocks located in central Africa. The group living in the region is a pastoralism/early agriculture-based society, needing to grow food and collect supplies to prepare and cultivate their crops. It has been well documented that the transition into agriculture was very hard on humans as a whole, all around the world, and this would have been no different living where the Khina people lived. While little formal and recent archaeological excavations have been done in the area, the ethnographic record with recorded accounts from around the 1920s is extensive and provides a lot of information about what could be expected in an excavation of the area

Trent University, and the surrounding area of Peterborough, Ontario, is home to a very diverse cultural heritage. Located 25 km outside of Peterborough is the Village of Omemee, home to 1100. This is my hometown and homeland. Omemee is settled on a intersection where the Pigeon River meets the Trans-Canada Highway, originally making expansion and transportation, easy via road or waterway. The communities first name was decided from our towns decommissioned paper mill owner, William Cottingham and inherently named the village Williamstown.
