Vocabulary has more of an influence than the students realize on how they communicate. It plays a vital role in prolonging a conversation. Without having the adequate amount of vocabulary in our folds it 's improbable to have a fluent conversation. Though there are several ways to improve the vocabulary but the most empirical way is to Read, to Record and to Review. The secret to building vocabulary is Reading. The students have to practice reading every day because by reading they are exposed to plenty of unknown words which they can cash on. Also, they should concentrate on learning the meaning of the new words in context, as memorizing new English words alone will not suffice. Just because knowing words doesn 't guarantee that they can use it in their conversation as they do not know how the word is used. The next step in the process is to record the new words learned in a notebook, diary or in a phone. Speaking is a practical skill which can’t be developed by reading a book. It has to be practiced, and the more we practice speaking, the more we become comfortable with the language, and the less we will have to translate. While speaking, they need to practice speaking louder as it will help them to build the confidence and forcefully drives them to overcome their shyness. There are many students who feel intimidated to speak in a public forum just because they are too afraid to commit an error. Remember we get better only by making mistakes; it paints a clear picture of their weaknesses that we can work on to eliminate. There are so many ways to improve our speaking such as finding a speaking partner, joining classes, initiating a conversation with friends/peers but the most efficient and convenient one is to speak to our self. There are multiple significant advantages with this trick. By conversing with our self we become more fluent in transacting our thoughts into spoken words. We can do this by self-narrating our actions, for Instance; I am walking to the university; I am eating food, and I am parking my car, and so on. This way we are not relying on anyone or anything, allowing it to do at their convenience. With practice, we shall be able to succeed transacting our thoughts into spoken words thereby eliminating this hurdle of cross-translating from the native
This passage from “Me Talk Pretty One Day” by David Sendaris, speaks to me a lot personally because of the truthfulness of this portion in particular. The author describes as clear as he can that language, just like anything else does not come all at once. In fact, it is not always the words spoken that make language an art, it can simply just be understanding the words someone says. When learning a new language it can be extremely rewarding to understand someone’s words. One may not always understand another’s reasoning, but one’s understanding of another’s words can be quite rewarding in the end.
In this essay excerpt Rodriguez had to give up speaking the comfortable language of Spanish at home and had to begin practicing English. Even though Rodriguez was disinclined to give up speaking Spanish and practicing English, whenever he was at school and spoke in English, his fellow classmate actually understood him. Rodriguez states, “One day in school, I raised my hand to volunteer an answer to a questions. I spoke out in a loud voice and I did not think it remarkable when the entire class understood.” By Rodriguez changing his language, he was more easily understood by his classmates.
Some people cannot answer these questions without the help of others, whether that advice is positive or negative. In Spanish Lessons by Christine Marin, encountered a similar obstacle in which not only her education and language were being tested, but her ability of not being able to communicate with others is what made her want to empower and strengthen her knowledge. In her essay, “Homemade Education”, Christine Marin describes how her difficulty in communicating with customers was a struggle because she was not able to respond back in her native tongue, which was Spanish. This made her want to improve her ability of communicating and practiced the language even more (161). Both Malcolm X and Marin similarities demonstrate that there is always a solution to
Brock was impressed with my desire to learn a foreign language and immediately wanted to converse exclusively in Chinese. My fear of judgment made it difficult to take advantage of this opportunity to practice my language skills with a fluent speaker. Overcoming this fear, I realized, was harder than I had originally anticipated. Brock was surprisingly persistent in his efforts to help me practice, but soon became frustrated with
He realized that a person’s words are not dependent on what language they are being said in. They are dependent on their meaning. People are brought together by the ideas themselves, not the language the ideas are being said in. Rodriguez notes how intimacy cannot be confined by language as his grandmother spoke to him one last time before her death. He expresses, “I can tell you some of the things she said to me as I stood by her bed, but I cannot quote the message of intimacy conveyed with her voice” (465).
Being confident shows your audience you are comfortable talking about your topic and that you are well informed on what you are specking of. Another thing that I can improve on is relaxing, for example, to not be so nervous. If I can think two steps ahead before I speak it would prepare me for what I am about to say which will allow my words to flow out smoothly and correctly. I plan on improving these skills by practicing more speeches in front of people and doing some relaxation exercises before my speech. I believe by implementing more speeches and doing some of the exercises, it will have me more relaxed, keep my mind focused and boost up my confidence so that I may present my speech flawlessly for an A plus grade.

I will practice more to gain confidence before giving any speech. It will help me to deliver any speech with more confidence and less stress. Practicing in front of the mirror is one of the ways that helps me to reduce my stress level. Thus, I will remember to look at the audience while speaking instead of looking down in the notes.

Classically, there is a natural continuum to this skill development but for student with reading difficulties or disabilities this is not always the circumstance. For some students, teachers have to provide small group instruction that is more clear, methodical, concentrated, and helpful than is usually provided in the
