Has someone ever told you something that you didn’t really want to know? In the novel, The Marino Mission , we meet Alexa who is forced to go to Nicaragua with her mother and goes on a clandestine mission. Alexas mission is Clandestine. Alexa’s mission exudes secrecy because Jose is helping Alexa get dolphin DNA, she is keeping things from friends, and she is on top secret military Base. To begin, Alexa’s mission becomes secretive when she tests the DNA of a dolphin named Pecas. Jose and Alexa got a swab of Pecas DNA from collecting her spit when she jumped up for fish. “He quickly swabbed the inside of her cheek in one hand and then deftly gave Pecas the fish with the other hand’’(Chapman, Page 77). They were very excited because the last …show more content…
Jose found out that the military were using dolphins as military weapons. “ The article described how the military purportedly used dolphins as guards for naval installment”(Chapman, Page 76). It is also Clandestine because she told specific people(Mostly the people she trust). “I can’t stop thinking about your e-mail. I had no idea dolphins were used in the military either”(Chapman, Page 95). They are still trying their best for this mission. One can argue that Alexa’s mission is not Clandestine however, she emailed Laurie, who works for CNN every day about her mission. “I had no idea dolphins were used in the military either!... I am going to tell Jeff on Monday- he is my boss at CNN-Maybe we can do a story on it!” One can argue that Alexa’s mission is not Clandestine because The military, Laurie, Alexa’s father, Jose, Puerto Marino and the animal group knew about it. The animal group found out which made Alexa and Jose find out. In detail, one can see that Alexa’s mission is clandestine. Alexa’s mission exudes secrecy because Jose is helping Alexa get dolphin DNA, she is keeping things from friends, and she is on top secret military Base. She continues to keep this mission Clandestine. Do you think she will ever finish the

By stepping outside of her comfort zone and travelling to Brazil to inquire upon the death of her friend and investigate the research of Dr. Swenson, Marina was able to overcome her longtime nightmare of blinding a baby during her residency period and delivered the child of a native woman. By doing so, she was able to set aside her fears of making a mistake and obtained the ability to forgive herself for harming a patient. In addition, her experiences in the Amazon jungle, away from the reach of society’s hands, enabled her to experience the life of the Lakashi tribe and understand how the women were able to bear children at great age and be inoculated against the malaria virus. While the Lakashi women possessed almost supernatural abilities, Marina was able to learn that all humans are similar Furthermore, the duration of the exile provided Marina with insight regarding herself and the loved ones she left behind and allowed her to be at peace with her father’s abandonment. This revelation of knowledge demonstrates the human ability to adapt and conform to obstacles and utilize the experiences of exile to become enriched with knowledge end experiences, reflecting the main meaning found in State of Wonder: abandonment necessitates the need for
Although, in our lab report, suspect ones DNA matched the crime scene when cut with enzyme one, this can be explained by how closely related the two suspects are. Therefore two enzymes were used to cut the DNA; the suspect has to match both. Moreover, the limitation to DNA fingerprinting is, if a person were to have an identical twin. This is because identical twins have the same DNA because they come from the same egg. If a suspect’s DNA matched that of the one being tested, and they had an identical twin, a farther investigation would need to be done.
Blackfish Rhetorical Analysis One fish, two fish, red fish, Blackfish. Blackfish is a documentary created by Gabriela Cowperthwaite to expose Seaworld and to show people what really happened with attacks on trainers such as the one Dawn Brancheau and the mistreatment of animals through many series of interviews of ex-trainers, experts on orcas, orca hunters, and eye witnesses of gruesome experiences. She accompanied her interviews with an array of video clips to back up her interviewer 's testimonies for her film. The events following this attack prove that there is an issue with these whales in captivity. The police report on the attack on Dawn first claimed that she slipped or “fell” into the pool, when she was actually pulled in by the whale. The lies told to the public clearly showed an issue with aggression. Not only did they lie once, they continued to change the story. After saying she slipped and fell, they then said that the whale grabbed her ponytail.
Not ever. The only way out is in. And that’s what I guess these stories are all about” (209). There is so much passion in what she is saying. These challenges she has faced are something she knows she cannot hid
Freeing Willy: A Rhetorical Analysis on Blackfish the Documentary The documentary film Blackfish, by Gabriela Cowperthwaite, is a daring venture, which claims that orcas in captivity become dangerous to human beings, as well as to other orcas. Cowperthwaite points to SeaWorld, in particular, since this world-renowned tourist attraction has had many examples that support her claim. In producing this film, Cowperthwaite hopes to bring about an end to SeaWorld’s practice of using killer whales as performance animals since the limited environment is ultimately doing more harm than good for both the whales and their trainers.
But children are blind to this fact, as SeaWorld is a corrupt organization that is excellent at covering up their unfair treatment, such as abuse, kidnapping animals, and deaths. SeaWorld has been proven to abuse their animals. Imagine living in a bathtub your whole life; that’s the size that tanks feel to
These operators suffer from conflict-zone trauma, and experience more stress disorders as much as those in combat. There are many people that do support drone strikes, and they believe that these aircrafts are much cheaper than other weapons. The dangerous factor is that drones are not a legitimate weapon of war. Essentially, the US government can employ drones domestically. They are undectable weapons, and can be used for surveillance of civilian's households without their consent.
