I was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia it’s located in East Africa. I have a lot of things that makes me feel like a home; today I will tell you the most important place in my life is soccer, my Elementary school and Holiday. Soccer is the most popular sport in Ethiopia. Most of kids in Ethiopia started playing soccer when they were a little kid. I used to play soccer half of my age. I am a big fan of Arsenal English Team. When I three years old my dad took a soccer stadium and I became more interesting watching soccer. During the school year I wasn’t allowed to spend time with my childhood friends or go out for fun. Before I came to U.S. I went to private school two hours away from my city. I wasn’t allowed to visit my childhood …show more content…
I grew up with sociable neighborhood. When holidays come everyone gather and makes Ethiopian traditional food and homemade alcohol. Usually they provide ox roll meat and spicy chicken. In America I guess it’s not allowed to eat roll meat, in Ethiopia roll meat is very popular food. Three weeks early the holiday my parents and neighbor start shopping buy new house materials, staffing for the chicken. Me as kid when holiday came I want get new shoes and clothes. My favorite part of the holiday is eve night because, we have big ceremonies in church. I grew up with Coptic Orthodox Christian. The church is starting 10 PM U.S. time and In Ethiopian time 3 PM. before we go to church I took shower and dress up my new white dress. Everyone in church dress white pants for men and long dress for women. Eve day, no one, not allowed to eat or drink if you want to go to inside the church. Before I enter inside I have taken off my shoes that the rule. During praying night I cannot sit or bend, i have to stand straight and repeating what the preach side. The church might takes longer depending how the church goes. Around 4 AM in morning the church finished. I go home takes a nap for two, three hours, when the lunches ready my sisters called me to eat lunch. Lunch time everyone part of our family came to visit us, so, we have a big family on holiday. In Ethiopia everyone eats together we shared one big plate for 10 people. After
Outcasts United by Allison Bekas “One loyal friend is worth ten thousand relatives.” ~ Euripedes We all have family troubles, disagreements, and sorrows, but it seems they came in abundance for those on the Fugees soccer team. They were a group of foreigners, outcasts, who all shared a common passion: soccer. They have seen the horrors of war and they are left with nothing when they come to America. They form an unlikely team and are confronted with the problems of finding a home field, buying uniforms, and staying away from teenage violence.
Holidays celebrate an area’s culture and/or the day(s) it commemorates with various festivities and traditions. In Theodore Geisel’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas, the light-hearted denizens of Who-Ville are preparing to celebrate Christmas. For the Whos, it is a time of fun and merryness, in which they sing and play with one another. This is a time of camaraderie and fellowship between everyone in the town. Apart from this is the antagonist, the Grinch, who dreads the holiday along with the singing, feasting, and other festive activities that the holiday inspires.
The holiday 's in Iraq was sad. For Christmas, we made fake snow and put up a little Christmas tree. For the most part, operations came down. So holidays went by without you having time to be
When I first got to the Synagogue, the Rabbi and his wife welcomed with me with open arms. They started explaining certain things that they do and why they do it. When we walked into the room where we would attend the service I noticed the seating was different. The seating in this Synagogue was sorted into three sections mixed, woman only, and men only. I sat in the woman areas section, because I have never been segregated during a church service before.
Growing up in a big family, traditions were what kept our family together. As a child, every first weekend in December was spent at my grandma’s house. It was our traditional craft/tree decorating weekend. All 15 of us grandkids would arrive at grandma’s house filled with excitement and joy. It was at time that we all got to spend catching up with each other and playing.
I was born in New Orleans, but raised in Brooklyn. For several reasons my parents decided to leave NOLA shorty after my birth. From then on, I was raised in New York state; more specifically Brooklyn. It wasn't until the age of sixteen that I finally returned to my home city. My parents had just divorced and for that reason, my mother no longer wished to stay in New York.
I was sent to Britain for my education. I was supposed to adopt the ways of a colonial gentlemen but the death of my dad changed my course. He died when I was 7 years old. Then I was homeschooled until the age of 16. Also, when I turned 16, I became a
From the outside of the church I could tell it was a smaller church, but I was very happily surprised by the comfortable size of the church, not so big that one feels lost in the crowed but also not so small that one feels like an intruder in a tight nit group. I was also very happily surprised by the age of the church. From my background I am used to seeing an older congregation and from my study of the Lutheran church I expected the same. But though this may seem to be a more traditional, the church the congregation was rather young. I also expected the dress to be more formal, but again the church was very similar to the Baptist churches I have been a
I was born in Northwest China, in the province of Jiang Xi. Eighteen years ago, my parents had decided to adopt from China after finding out they were unable to have children of their own. After researching about adoption agencies, they found an agency in Texas. Gladney Center for Adoption, forwarded my parents information on two twin girls that needed a family. It was love at first sight and they planned their trip.
and then they hold a street fair to celebrate Christmas and they get toys why the kids lie in bed waiting for Santa Claus? It is a custom to visit their family members and they will play games and have lot’s of and eat food and some of the food is roast chicken, rice, and gungo peas. The drink that they drink is red tea and this is how you make it herb, with steep hot, then cooled and mixed with ginger, and then you put sugar with white rum and that is how you make red tea. The things that my country does is that they throw a humongous per radius and they make it about Santa Claus and instead of Santa on his savage slay and going around giving kids presents and they do floats too. They also do this they do shows that represent Christmas and they play the song to
I grew up between Mesa, Arizona and Lake Tahoe, Nevada. However, I was originally born in Syracuse, New York. I love to travel and see many different places. I have visited Mexico, France, England and Ireland. I still have so many places to see, but most of all I enjoy spending time with my

This holiday brings family members together, in my case I usually get to see my mom each year. The thing we must not forget is that Christmas is not about receiving, nor about giving in return, it’s about doing a little extra something for someone without an exchange, it’s about coming together as a family. Every year on December 25, I wake up and feel Special, for having a family that loves and cares for me, for waking up in the morning and seeing myriad presents under the Christmas tree, for getting to spend another Christmas day sharing with friends and family and getting to say Merry
For the most part, the individuals in my family are on top of our rituals. Every year between Black Friday and Christmas time my family and I go to different malls to seek out all of the great discounts. The holidays always have a unique spot in our hearts because we know this is the time of year we can be able to be all together and enjoy the special days together. There are certain ways families celebrate their own rituals and the way that my family and I highlight every holiday (Galvin 119). Lately, this ritual has been slowly dying, but I hope we can have this interest in the future when I have a family on my
