Did Lizzie Borden really kill her father and step-mother or was it someone else? Lizzie Borden was accused of murdering her father and her step-mother, on August 4th,1892. Andrew Borden and his wife, Abby, were brutally murdered with an ax, with both murders being at different time frames. No one saw who murdered Andrew and Abby, but witnesses on the scene accused Lizzie . Lizzie Borden is innocent because there has/was no evidence linking Lizzie to murdering her father and stepmother and there were several people in the house while the murder happened to both of the family members.

When Mr. Borden arrived home, he went into the sitting room and took a nap before he had to go out again. Lizzie Borden decided to go out to the barn and on her way out to the barn, she kissed her father on the forehead. Abby Borden had decided to send Bridget downstairs into the kitchen to wash the windows there. Bridget then decided to go lay down in her room for about 15 minutes before she went downstairs to clean. After ten to fifteen minutes, she had heard Lizzie Borden yelling out that her father was hurt and that the doctor needed to be called.As a result, Andrew Borden had ax marks on his body and with Lizzie becoming the suspect the moment she had found him.(LOC) At this time, Andrew Borden had been killed and Lizzie was a suspect. Police and witnesses believe she was just trying to cover for someone or she was just put under pressure when asked for an alibi and had to come up with a story in the spur of the moment. However, if Lizzie were innocent she wouldn’t have changed her story.

As she left through the side door of the house she specifically remembers closing the door. When Lizzie came back from the barn she remembers seeing that same door open. It seems suspicious that the person who broke into the house entered through the side door that wouldn't have been visible from the road in front of the house. This, however, would follow the story perfectly, seeing as the one time the house was broken into, the burglar broke in through the side door, went up the stairs, and stole over $95 of valuables from Abby and Andrew's room. The murder of the adults could very well have been an attempt to steal Mr. and Mrs. Borden’s affluence.
