How The Music Industry Went West In this essay I will be covering how Kanye West made a huge impact on hip-hop/rap music. West is one of the most impactful if not the most impactful hip-hop/rap artist of all time. West changed the way hip-hop/rap music was portrayed throughout his career. One of the reasons wests music has been dynamic in the music industry is that he was heavily influenced by some of the greatest artist of our time. Although this is probably the most controversial of all his album as many people either strongly love or hate it, it has made an impact on today’s artist. And still impacts artist today. This album showed that it is okay to wear your heart on your sleeve. Although Kanye crafted it as a melancholic pop album, 808s had a huge effect on hip hop music. Commonly referred to as an emotional low point between two of his better albums in Graduation and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. His decision to sing about love, loneliness, and heartache for the whole album was heavily criticized at first by critics, as well as the album being predicted to flop however, its ensuing critical acclaim and commercial success encouraged other mainstream rappers to take bigger creative risks with their music. During the release of The Blueprint 3, New York rap mogul Jay-Z revealed that his next studio album would be an experiment, stating, "... it's not gonna be a #1 album. That's where I'm at right now.
