The advancement of technology in the 21st century has changed the way people learn and do things in their everyday life. With easier access to the internet and other technological tools society has evolved to a more web connected community. These advancements have gone as far as to impact the way people learn and the way students are being taught in today’s world. Digital learning has become a popular practice among most schools and educational institutions. But, can digital learning change and impact schools and the way students be educated? The following review of several scholarly articles will discuss the ways technology has impacted students and their behavior, the way students and institutions do research, and lastly the negative and positive effects of these technological advancements in digital learning Over the last decade there has been several researches about the way technology has affected students and their behaviors. There has been a number of studies that have been done in order to exploit the impact of technology on students. These studies have shown that this new digital world has had an effect on the attention span of students (Purcell, 2012). Students attention spans have decreased due to their engagement and dependency on technology (Purcell, 2012). During a study a group of teachers were surveyed on the impact of technology in on students. The survey concluded that 87% of the teachers surveyed agreed with this conclusion that technology has affected the attention span of students. In …show more content…

Researchers have noticed a slight advantage in the learning form students while taking online courses rather than a traditional face-to-face classroom (Jacobsen, 2012). With teachers adapting to this new way of teaching they are more involved in the digital teaching of students. This does not take away the fact that teachers are important in a student’s learning age. Teachers are the ones that design engaging tasks for the students so in order to be good teachers in the digital era, they must be well informed on how to teach using this new format for teaching in schools (Jacobsen, 2012). A research reveals that with proper use of technology, it works just as well in building great problem-solving skills as it would have commonly resulted in other traditional teaching
