The humans have been living in this planet for thousands of years and it is expected that we shall do so for many centuries to come. But of course there are many negative effects that prevent us from having the ideal life we all dream of. Lets take pollution as an example. There are many ways in which we pollute our world, each one more dangerous than the other in their own particular way, such as air pollution, water contamination, acoustic pollution and much more. Every one of them has a tremendous but distinctive effect on us nonetheless. If we come to think about it, what is that kind of pollution that has an immense effect on our daily …show more content…
This alternation may lead to stress and decision paralysis. As the name suggests, decision paralysis happens when we are incapable of making a decision because of being under particularly stressful situations. Every one of us has a different way of dealing with stress but some of us are affected by it more than others. The most common responses to stress are increase in heart and breathing, a fight-or-flight stance, sleep or digestive problems but in rare cases it may lead to more serious and somber reactions such as depression, physical pain, hyperventilation and …show more content…
This whole pollution has a boundless impact on public perception on life and moral value, which means that we are experiencing a decrease in ethical properness. This argument is a continuous debating point on why the attention of the modern society has been rather unfocused towards certain topics such as scientific discoveries or politic-related issues that are a major part of our daily routine. It would doubtlessly be a major turning point if the public took more notice of the way our world changes every single
Unit 2 Assignment: Diagnostic Writer’s Response Whether it is a little or a lot, everyone experiences stress at some point. Stress does not always have a negative effect, most of the time the effects can be positive. On the other hand stress is associated with the development of most major mental health problems such as depression, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and pathological aging (Marin, 2011). It has also been linked to all leading physical causes of death such as heart disease, cancer and stroke (Cohen, Janicki-Deverts, & Miller, 2007).
For example, littering is very common and people that throw their trash on the floor or in the bush do not realize who that is affecting around them. Not only does littering just create a nasty and unhealthy environment people around, especially those very young, will learn from the actions they witnessed. A young kid seeing his dad or even a random person throw trash on the floor will trigger something in their brain telling them that is an okay thing to do, so they begin to throw trash on the floor when no trashcan is available. In addition to littering, noise pollution is unnoticingly hurting everyone around, especially for those that live in an apartment or houses very close together. Some people have stricter schedules than others, so while one person needs to be asleep by ten in order to be awake for work or school early in the morning others around might not need to be asleep until one or two in the morning.
In all facets of human life there is a constant pressure. One of the most potent forms of this is peer pressure. It affects how humans make decisions, in all facets of an everyday life. Peer is a force that can bring out the best and worst of humanity. Additionally, in the context of Reginald Rose’s 12 Angry Men peer pressure is used to highlight the best and worst aspects of the American judicial system circa 1954.
Other symptoms include the person having trouble making decisions and having a sudden burst of
Are you a believer that most of the things in life are caused by ongoing environmental issues? To counteract or prevent the effects of despair one needs to do something that is to be in action so that we are not in sorrow tomorrow. Don’t allow despair. Instead, do something about it. In “Despair Not” by Sandra Steingraber she mentions what is happening on our planet and what is happening to our bodies also.
Do you ever wonder if the things you do every day are harming others and the environment? Many people do not realize that their actions were such a big problem. This paper represents a dystopian society, the opposite of a utopian society. A dystopia is when a certain problem is occurring in the world and how it is affecting society.
“Deadly Mind Traps” In the essay “Deadly Mind Traps” by Jeff Wise, the author gives real life examples of how our brains are hardwired or sometimes on autopilot, and make decisions based on what we humans think is logical. Sometimes these logical reactions, such as instinctively trying to save or rescue another human being from danger, or trying to grab a falling object, can work to our advantage. But in scenarios that are life threatening, we tend to get nervous. We start to feel added pressure and our ability to make sound decisions can disappear very quickly.
An extreme reaction to stress is a panic attack. A panic attack is a sudden, intense fear or anxiety that may make you feel short of breath, dizzy, or make your heart pound. People who have panic attacks may feel out of control, like they are having a heart attack, or are about to die. Panic attacks may happen with no clear cause, but they can be brought on by living with high levels of stress for a long time. High stress levels also affected the morale and motivation of the employees.
The earth, our earth, once used to be a healthy environment, with no pollution or destruction. Not until humans began creating advanced technology and other inventions that started to affect the way we live. As humans we thought these inventions would just make life easier for us and we don’t mean to harm the planet. We are all trying to help the planet but at the same time, destroying it.
The ever-changing environment that surrounds us is another influence of mine. The environment is currently suffering from pollution and we humans are creating a mass of it. Emissions from manufacturing plants, the burning of fossil fuels, and household and farm chemicals are all ways humans are polluting the environment. And this issue has brought upon great concern for me as well as many others.
We have grown to see our parents have children, build houses, buy cars cultivate farmlands, explore timber and many other aspects. I think that this is the time to ask ourselves the question how good or bad are our actions to the environment? We should not inherit the habits of our forefathers because we are now responsible for the consequences of our action base on consequential ethics which states that it is common for us to determine our moral responsibility by weighing the consequences of our actions. According to consequentialism, correct moral conduct is determined solely by a cost-benefit analysis of an action's consequences. And in this case, if we apply sustainable development and consequential ethics, I am sure that we will protect our environment looking at it as a social
One of the greatest issues that we face towards the environment has been an increasingly difficult problem over the last few years. Earths climate is changing at rapid paces and solutions are needed as quickly as possible to replenish natural ecosystems and cultures that depend on the environment. Climate change not only affects the animals in our ecosystem, but us humans as well. With the human population increasing every year, climate change is only getting worse. Many argue that the effects of climate change towards the environment are due to other extraneous factors, however, I myself am a strong believer that the problems such as rising sea levels, warmer temperatures and natural disasters are all due to both natural causes and human activity.
No matter what kind of depression you have, the pain is the same-caused by a chemical imbalance in your brain. No matter what you 're depressed about, or even if you don 't know why you 're depressed, there are some simple things you can do to reduce your pain and anxiety, and get yourself feeling better. Simple cognitive behavior techniques and exercises can lessen pain and stimulate more productive thinking. Low-key physical and mental activity can also speed recovery.
Review of Literature Environmental issues began to be discussed and debated only towards the end of the 20th century. Since then significant amount of literature has been penned down raising awareness about issues of pollution, deforestation, animal rights and several others however it has failed to result in major changes, ideas or even actions to save the environment. Several species of animals have become extinct; pollution level is at an all-time high, global warming is leading to severe climate changes all across the globe but these problems do not seem to alarm the decision makers. Leydier & Martin (2013) also states that, “despite the increasing expression of concern in political and media debates about issues such as climate change, pollution and threats to biodiversity, “political ecology” (operating at the confluence of scientific developments, political engagement and ethical debates) is still trying to find its bearings” (p.7). It is quite evident that environmental issues are not treated in equivalence to political, economic, social or even religious issues.
There are many problems that threatens society and one problem in particular, air pollution is a problem that threatens everyone. Air pollution is the contamination of air with pollutants that are harmful to humans, animals, and the environment. It began to be a problem when humans discovered the uses of fire and then the amount of air pollution exponentially grew after the industrial revolution, and is still a problem even today. The largest causes of air pollution are from human activities such as burning of fossil fuels and gas emissions from manufacturing plants. There are ways that ordinary people can help contribute to prevent air pollution and or else face the dangerous consequences of polluted air.
