Divergent vs. The Outsiders
Compare and Contrast Essay
This compare and contrast essay is about two different books: The Outsiders and Divergent. The first one is Divergent, a dystopian book about a girl named Beatrice who lives in a world where all people are separated into five factions based on their personalities. The Outsiders is a realistic fiction book about a gang in Tulsa, Oklahoma whose members consist of Ponyboy, Sodapop, Darry, Dally, Two-Bit, Steve, and Jonny. The two books Divergent and The Outsiders share similarities and differences.
For instance, these are a couple of details about Divergent. The protagonist is a girl named Beatrice from Abnegation who is 16 and also is Divergent. This world is split into five factions. Some factions are Amity, who believes in kindness, Dauntless, who believes in bravery, Erudite, who believes in knowledge, Abnegation, who believe in selflessness, and Candor, who believe in honesty. In this world Divergent is considered dangerous. The leaders of the factions try to kill all Divergents. In Divergent It is

Another difference is that the authors have different Protagonists and antagonist groups in Divergent the main antagonist and protagonist are a single person, who are Tris and Jeanine, and in The Outsiders, the main protagonists and antagonists are groups of people which are the greasers and the Socs. Another difference is that Tris is a girl and Ponyboy is a boy. Also, Tris is sixteen years old and is leaving the teen stages of her life while Ponyboy is only starting his teen years at 13 years old. Finally, In The Outsiders, they show the antagonist's side of the story more than Divergent does. An example of this would be that in The Outsiders they say that “everybody is going through something even the Socs.” in Divergent, they only show Jeanine as a bad
My final is about the difference between the book and the movie “The Outsiders.” This next paragraph is about the description difference between the book and movie. Then the paragraph after that will be about the description of the background or cars that the characters drive or live in. I think that the move and the book where basted of the same story but I think that when the directors made the movie with some different cars or house that can change the movie or they put different things in it so that the movie will look better. Altogether the movie and the book were pretty good and had good meaning to it about want to think of life and it’s alright to not be tough and hard.
In the two books, The Outsiders by S.E Hinton and The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer, the main characters went through a very tough experience and learned lessons that helped them to grow. In The Outsiders, Ponyboy grew up because of some hard situations that helped shape him into a man. In The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, William’s life had many struggles that caused him to want to take control of his own life and become more of a man also. In The Outsiders, on of the characters, Johnny killed one of the Socs, Bob, and they had to go to an old church to hide from the police.
The Outsiders The Outsiders is an amazing book and movie. The book is better and has a lot more detail than the movie. In the movie we watched there were several events that did not happen that were in the book. The book and movie have many similarities, but there are more differences distinguished.
In the novel The Outsiders published in 1967, and in the movie, 1983, both by S. E. Hinton, they elaborate on many themes. For example, one is that violence doesn't solve anything, or things are hard all over. In the movie of The Outsiders it doesn’t express the same themes though. In both of these versions of The Outsiders though it has very similar storylines to compare the two of these versions and so the audience won’t notice. To compare and contrast these things though, must work with the scenes to work with emotions.
The book told more details and made the important things pop out. The movie left out a lot of the little things that made a big difference overall. The book of The Outsiders and the movie of The Outsiders had several things in common, but there were also things left out from one that was in the other. In the book, it says that Dally’s hair was blonde, but in the movie it showed him with brown hair.
The Novel”The Outsiders” and the movie”The Outsiders”are different in some ways and similar in others. For example in the movie they don't include the trial scene that happened in the novel which absolutely helped create tension in the novel. Likewise the movie don't show the effects of Dally’s and Johnny's death on Ponyboy contrary to the novel which the death of both Dally and Johnny had an immense effect on Ponyboy causing his grades to drop and his once soft-spoken and naive character to harden and become tougher furthermore Randy wasn't developed that much and in the movie we didn't get to really understand that the socs and the greasers were the same. The movie was quite faithful in the book in some ways since it included most of the scenes in the novel such as the scene where Johnny kills Bob to help Ponyboy which was a driving force of the plot in both the movie and the novel and caused most of the crucial events to happen like Johnny and Dally’s death. Furthermore the movie included the church setting on fire and causing the death
The movie was published in 1983. There is quite a lot of differences and similarities in the novel and the movie The Outsiders. Similar things are in the movie as they are in the novel. One of the similarities is that Soda did look a lot like Ponyboy. Another example of a similarity between the novel and the movie is that Ponyboy kept talking bad about Darry because he thought he hated him.
The outsiders is a really good book and movie. You could easily compare both of them though, for their differences and their similarities. The Book and the movie our two different things but it has some things in common, they have a lot of things that our same but also a lot of
Comparative Analysis The Wednesday Wars, by Gary D. Schmidt, and The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton, both take place in the 1960s. When analyzing the two novels, one can compare and contrast the social inequalities racism, classism, and bullying. These inequities enhance the reader’s understanding of how society is separated. While racism is present in The Wednesday Wars, the subject is not present in The Outsiders.
The Outsiders: Compare and Contrast In the novel “The Outsiders,” by S.E Hinton and the movie by Francis Ford Coppola have numerous similarities and differences. Our thoughts on these particular aspects are very diverse as the universe is. Many things have been either left out or diminished from the movie, which makes it less interesting as the suspense lessens as you have finished reading the book. Although this might be the case, there were also many similarities between the two sources.
A book and a movie can be both the same and different. In The Outsiders there are many similarities and differences with the book and movie. They were the same because Johnny kills a man, they cut their, there was the movie scene, and Johnny and Ponyboy went to the church. Some of the differences is when Darry slaps Ponyboy but in the movie he pushes him, Johnny doesn't bring a lot of food in the book but does in the movie he does, when Johnny killed the man it was more described but it wasn't in the movie, and Johnny says he wants to kill himself in the movie. In The Outsiders one of the themes is “friendship”
There are comparisons and contrast in the movie and the book “The Outsiders”. For example in both when Ponyboy and Johnny run away from after killing Bob they go on the train to the abandoned church in both. They are similar because in the story and movie Johnny kills bob then runs away with Pony. They go to Dally where he gave them a pistol and told them to jump on the train and get off at the second stop Windrixville and go to the abandoned church on top of jay mountain. Another example of similarities between both is they still have all the main characters in the greaser gang.
The Outsiders, written by SE Hinton represents the social values of their society through the choices made within the genre. The book The Outsiders written in the perspective of a young boy named Ponyboy Curtis and his struggles to find what is right and what is wrong in society and what his identity is, and who he is as a person. The genre of this book is coming of age. Coming of age is the transition of a child becoming an adult and their journey to becoming an adult and all the problems they face along the way. Hinton explores this genre through the stages of realization, removal, challenge, and reintegration.
As you see societies that are based on the same idea are always share differences and similarities between all of them. How the people of these societies deal with their situations and what they do during the day shows the differences in them. In Anthem, you see a society that the government has total control over and the people have no control over anything that happens and they are on a set schedule and they are just seen as workers and nobody is different. While in Divergent people are allowed to choose their future and they have some say in life and they aren’t just seen as workers they actually have a meaning where they come from. Looking at both of them based around the same thing shows the difference in government control and how people
The Outsider movie and book are telling the same story but are different in many ways. LIke the book starts with Ponyboy Curtis stepping out into the sunlight after being in the theater watching a movie. In the movie it starts with Dally, Pony, and Johnny Cade walking around their neighborhood. After that in the book Pony gets jumped by some socs and are about to cut his hair when Pony friends come and rescue him. Nothing like that happens in the movie.
