There are many jobs out there to choose from, but finding the perfect job can take time and research. It is important to consider many things when researching future careers. Salary, hours, and the work setting are some of the important items that need to be considered. Sometimes even trial and error are needed to find the perfect job. However, once the perfect job is discovered, it is a wonderful feeling. The perfect job for me is an elementary school teacher. This job just feels like it will be the perfect fit for me.
The jobs I researched were elementary school teacher and preschool teacher. The main career I am considering is the elementary school teacher, which is the first career I will discuss. Being an elementary school teacher

This job is very similar to a elementary school teacher. The only difference is the age of the children. Preschool children are mostly under the age of five. According to career planner, this job has a little more responsibility. When dealing with younger children, the main focus is on language skills, motor skills, and social skills. Teaching objectives are more focused on the basic skills that will lead the students into elementary schools(inc). An associate’s degree is required to be a preschool teacher instead of a bachelor’s degree. About fifty percent of preschool teachers still get a bachelor's degree, but it is not required to get the higher degree. Along with the degree there are some personal skills that are also essential. These skills include being creative as well as excellent interpersonal and organizational skills(inc). The work environment is almost the same as in an elementary school. Classes are held inside of a building and might even be set inside of an elementary school, although, frequently a preschool is in its own separate building. Preschool hours are not as long as elementary school hours. The days of preschool may also vary anywhere from three to five days per week depending on the school(inc). The job outlook is very good for preschool teachers. The job outlook is expected to grow by ten percent. The average salary is almost the same as the elementary school teacher. …show more content…
Both jobs are very similar, but also different in little ways. An elementary school teacher is first choice. I will be able to teach many different grades and not be limited to just one grade, which is pretty cool. An elementary school teacher is a little more work, but can also have a higher salary. In the end, the work for the extra degree will be worth it. A preschool teacher is my second choice. This job is a little less work. I would not need a bachelor's degree, but I would get paid a little less. Money is not everything when choosing a career, but definitely something to think about. It would be fun to help younger kids learn basic life skills and this is why a preschool teacher is my second choice for my future
ECS 306 - Initial Self-Assessment 1. What experience do you have with children? (Siblings, Baby-sitting, Parenting, Caregiving, Teaching, etc.) I have six years of experience working in a preschool environment with children aged two to five. Besides this, I am also a parent of two children.
I have always felt the need to help people any time I can. Being helpful to others has always felt like an accomplishment. Thinking about that, I have come to the time where I need to pick my occupation. Should I be a physical therapist assistant or a pediatrician is the decision I have to make. But with choosing my occupation, I need to also keep in mind a few things, the pay rate, employment demand, years of schooling, and the job environment.
Competency Statement 1: To establish a safe, healthy learning environment When you are an Early Childhood educator there are some key factors that you have to keep in mind: 1. Creating a safe environment and 2. Creating and instilling in your students and yourself a healthy environment. Safety to me is a very detrimental factor in Early Childhood, because when you deal with young children you always have to watch out for their well being as if they were your own.
Education is at the forefront of most new parent’s minds, which is why there is so much pressure on choosing a good preschool. Parents want to make sure that they give their children the best possible start to education, in order to create a solid foundation for success late in life. However, in society today, expectations placed on preschoolers are becoming more demanding, a trend that could have many negative consequences on the development of children. This idea is discussed in the article The New Preschool is Crushing Kids written by Erika Christakis. Christakis interconnects the audience, speaker, and subject as well as uses appeals to logic, emotion, and credibility to craft a strong and effective argument about how preschool has started to place too many expectations on preschoolers.
Fuller and Strath (2001) conducted a quantitative research study that examined local populations of early education organizations based on the 1990 household census data to report features of the early childhood workforce nationwide. Multiple economic and regulatory forces shaped the population of early education organizations that operated within states and local communities. The median center-based teacher was 34 years of age, reported having completed some college, and was married. The median family childcare home provider had a high school diploma. Fifteen percent of all preschool teachers in urban areas were African American and 8% were Latina.
As a freshmen in college, I am supposed to know what career I want to pursue in the future. However, I am having troubles choosing one specific career due to the growing amount of careers we have today. At this moment, I am certain that I want a career that All that I know for sure is that I want to pursue a career that positively impacts another individuals life. For instance, being that person that boosted another individuals’ confidence or teaching/informing an individual something they never learned before. At this moment, I have two careers in mind: a Dental Hygienist or an Elementary School Teacher.
Over the past 20 years, the workforce identity of the early years setting has changed dramatically. Policy and governmental changes have inspired children led improvements and this has affected the identity of the Early Years Teacher. In 1997 the Labour Government outlined their commitment to improving quality within the early years setting and one of the main areas they concentrated on was the quality of staff within the settings. This resulted in the view that 'quality' was qualified. In 2007, Labour introduced the graduate role of the Early Years Practitioner, which aimed to raise the falling standards within the early year’s settings.
As many would guess education is likely the main thing that someone who hires an early childhood professional looks at. I was also placed into pre-school to work for one week. The nursery had a very structured routine, the children would usually arrive at 8:00AM. The children would then have breakfast at 8:30AM and snack time at 10:00AM, pre-school will then go out in the garden at 10:30am until 11:00am and the babies and toddlers would go around 11:30am to 11:45am and get ready for lunch at 12:00. If it was a rainy day we would usually have circle time. After lunch the pre-school children, toddlers and babies would go to sleep until 2:30pm.
You could become an elementary school teacher with only a bachelor’s degree, a teacher’s assistant that only needs a few years of college, and a childcare worker that only requires a high school diploma. This career is very much like being a principal for a school but for toddler-aged
The important reason to makes a good and professional early childhood educator is to communicate with children and try to understand them. I did not have any working experience in kindergarten, but I have some experience of taking care of a child due to my mother is a babysitter. The child that my mother takes care is a boy and he’s autism. He is a child that sometimes like lives in his own world and sometimes he is also hyperactive. He likes to sing, dance and write.

I am pursing a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I am passionate about education and excited to share the joy of learning with students. The perspective of wonder and sense of excitement that children bring into education motivates me daily. Teaching can leave a lasting impression in a child’s life and offers a special opportunity to shape the bright young minds of future generations. While many professions can be impactful, I believe the qualities of the person in the career position to be the most influential.
Why do people want to become teachers? There is low pay, long hours, little benefits, students have more rights than teachers. I want to be a teacher because I want to make a difference and change every child’s heart that I come into contact with. Teaching is one of those jobs where you get to be an undercover angel, because you are able to effect so many different lives by caring and teaching. You matter not only to one person in an office, but for 18-20 kids.
