The approach to mentorship is currently different compared to what it was a generation ago. In the past, the relationships merely resembled a teacher-student model where they deemed the “expert” as the mentor. This approach is no longer valid. When considering a mentor, we have to look to someone who is as open to learning as they are teaching. The younger generation tends to bring modern viewpoints to long-standing problems, appreciate the role that technology takes part in solving everyday issues and take a much more vigorous role in their personal development.
The judge was trying to influence the kid and to breed the idea of eternal violence, and the scene with Elrod shows that he did not succeed completely, since the man is trying to avoid violence in first stance, but rather to calm him down. Unfortunately, it does not work out, and it seems that there is vicious circle, and to stop violence one need to posses this quality himself. A plotline that appears here again is the judge’s “sins of the fathers” story about the shopkeeper and the traveller. Dead father or the father who is not interested in his child harms in the same way as the father with evil intentions does: the man and Elrod are close to the traveller’s son and they try to live up the masculinity idea, but they will never reach the
Moreover, technology allows students to see the whole world as a resource with themselves being in charge of their destiny. It also benefits students because they have choices and opportunities to explore and share information to a greater extent than available in a traditional classroom. Educators, in my opinion, should be racing to utilize programs that retain children's attention and reinforce methods and concepts taught in class. International competitors are excelling in the areas of math and science by using computers efficiently. Therefore, it is essential that our children are taught how to use and learn from computers in order to produce a society that is up to par with nations
He really realized the importance of education when a recruiter had to fake his test results to get him in the army. He thought that he had a lot of talent and a brilliant mind, but his father did not want him to be intelligent as shown when he says, “I happen to have a brilliant mind. In case you don't know. A brilliant mind and talent plus. But no education, because he didn't want me to learn anything, only how to tote and carry for him.
Therefore, technology allows them to prevent wasting their valuable time by helping them find and search for whatever they want, as well as by delivering them results that are straightforward and to the point. Many critics may argue and say that technology in education is dangerous. It can waste a students’ time by getting him or her sidetracked by distractions they find online. However when students avoid technology in education, they have to spend long hours, days, maybe even weeks searching for certain information in various different books. Students that really want to learn will force discipline upon themselves.
This next quote shows that society made Roger scared of throwing rocks because of the punishments that come along with doing wrong things. “Roger’s arm was conditioned by a civilization that knew nothing of him and was in ruins” (Golding 91). Roger’s arm just expects punishment and does not think that there will not be consequences. The only thing holding back the evil within the child is the old civilization and since that is gone, the realization that punishment does not exist will follow closely behind. In conclusion, children may seem naive which they are, naturally they would do things much differently if they were exposed to things instead of being sheltered from
But nowadays, technology is a significant factor in today’s society. Technology is rapidly growing and is becoming more involved in our lives. It has become so highly involved that now it is part of children’s lives. Cris Rowan stated that “Children now rely on technology for the majority of their play.” Children are no longer wanting to go outside or play with their toys anymore. The importance of these activities is to improve their creativity and imagination, which creates their ability to problem solve in the future.
It will be an advantage for the student to use the capacities they have acquired and they will not just abandon it that easily. They will have the choice to make their knowledge useful or not. (1964 cited in Bailey 1988). The student will now have their views about the real life situation and applying their rational capacities and have to choice to continuously expand their educational proficiencies and cognitive attainments brought by lifelong
In college nowadays we have a lot of options on what we want to do. Kids these days are having more and more things to learn and to do and because of the new technology’s that schools are getting they can learn easier as well. That’s why schools are
I think that technology will definitely take a big part in education in the future. It is a clever machine that could not only help teach effectively, but also efficiently. Although technology is beneficial to education, there can be some drawbacks. After all, technology isn’t human and cannot answer more opinion and moral based questions that students have and need. Sometimes, us student just need these ideas to guide us in our schoolwork.
