The Effects of Drinking Alcohol Humans have consumed an alcoholic beverage since the ancient time. It was created by fermenting the fruit, grain, etc. Since prehistoric time, it has been used to worship the goddess in many countries. Later, people drink for many purposes such as entertain their life, boost the courage or socialize with others. However, consuming alcohol without knowing about its property is unsafe. Therefore, people should be aware of the positive and negative effects of alcohol intake. Blackouts are one of the results of drinking too much alcohol. Testosterone is known as a hormone that will increase the sex drives of both sexes. The research by scientists from Italy and Japan shows that testosterone levels in the blood rise after drinking a suitable amount of alcohol [10]. In addition, the Italian researchers discover that drinking red wine can enhance the sexual desire [11]. Red wine will improve the blood flow in essential areas resulted in the higher levels of lust. Another advantage of alcohol consumption within a proper amount is reducing cardiovascular risk. The study from Cambridge University and University College London indicates that moderate drinkers have a lower risk of heart diseases compared to non-drinkers [12]. It was suggested that alcohol will raise the good cholesterol levels that will increase protein transportation through the body. This will diminish the atheroma (fatty deposit in an artery) that causes the blood clotting. In conclusion, drinking alcohol has both advantages and disadvantages. If people drink in a proper amount, it can increase the eroticism and decrease the cardiovascular diseases. Heavy drinking is the exact opposite, as it will produce many adverse effects like blacking out, driving ability reduction, obesity, and liver damage. Everything has its own benefit and detriment.
