The globalization and the growth of international relations, as well as international tourism, have contributed to the increased threat of terrorist attacks all over the world. Furthermore, it is crucial to understand that terrorism has not only gained new forms but also became more sophisticated and more diffused across the world. Respectively, on the modern stage of the issue discussion and development, a single government or a single country is not able to overcome the problem separated from the rest of the world. With regard to this, current situation requires from the world a “systemic protection against the threat of terrorism” implemented through “a global set of customs and immigration controls” and “ using the same standards and sharing databases” (Zakaria 240). In the current situation of simplified traveling opportunities and growth of migration, such approach could turn out beneficial for the so-called “war on terrorism” that is led by global
And "globalization" is often linked to or interchanged with "global," "internationalization," "Americanization," or "global capitalism”.And these words are often used to explain the tight interconnectedness of the international political situation or the influence of certain superpowers. In addition, when there is a discussion about intercultural relations or communication, “Americanization”, “western domination” are two crucial points that many scholars are argue about. To be sure, we are faced with a world situation that the society is constantly changing and there is new continuous stimulation, debates, and reform of education in countries around the world. (Huilan, 2007) And the superpower of some western countries do have some influence on the intercultural relations, and those superpowers may have more chances to speak in some international affairs. However it does not mean they control everything since that all countries have a say in the affairs of their states.
Unfortunately, there is a dark side of globalization, which has generated undesirable outcomes, such as terrorism, illegal drug trade, and etc. The technological advance in communication and transportation has redefined the social and economic relations in an international level. Transnational criminal groups took advantage of these innovations to spread their network and influence to achieve their objectives. (Naím 2005) stated that, crime becomes a global phenomenon “transforming the international system, upending the rules, creating new players, and reconfiguring power in international politics and economics.” This elaboration of global issues is reflected through the emergence of issues such as drug trafficking. Globalization is a process of intensifying the pluralist challenge, as it highlights international and transnational actors.
It has also promoted the feeling of insecurity among citizens of different nation through increase in proliferation of dangerous weapons like nuclear bombs. Globalization also leads to the loss of national identity and national culture through Migration (Conversi, 2014). This loss of national identity is the main cause for the increase in xenophobic attacks in many countries. The sovereignty of a nation is sometimes infringed by the international organization such as International Monetary Funds (IMF), World bank and World Trade Organization which can sometimes make decision that will influence the governance and operations of given countries, thereby losing their financial nationalism and sovereignty. International terrorism refers to the figured utilization of viciousness or the risk of brutality against civilians with a specific end goal to accomplish objectives that are political or religious or ideological in nature and this is done through intimidation or pressure or ingraining apprehension. Globalisation is the procedure of worldwide reconciliation emerging from the exchange of world perspectives, items, thoughts and different parts of society .However, to some extent International terrorism is a natural by-product of globalization as globalization has its own innovations: computerization, scaling down, digitization, satellite correspondence, optic fiber and Internet, which strengthens the characterizing point of view of globalization. When a nation goes into the arrangement of globalization, its elites
Globalization can be defined as the process by which businesses or other organizations develop international influence or start operating on an international scale. In simpler terms this means globalization is the trend of increasing interaction with people on worldwide scale due to advances in transportation, communication and technology. TERRORISM DEFINED Terrorism is defined as the, “systematic use of coercive intimidation, usually to service political ends”, (Wilkinson, 2001:13). However, it is said that no overall agreement of definition exists. The goal of terrorism is mainly seen as making and exploiting an environment of fear among a comprehensive target group, and not only the direct victims, and to achieve maximum publicity for a given reason, (Hough, Kruys and Plessis, 2005:5).
Regardless of where a noteworthy terrorist assault happens on the planet, the emotions it evokes when one knows about it are widespread - aversion, stun, fear, and instability. Instability rules in the quick result of a terrorist assault, with respect to such things as who were the culprits, how could they have been able to they plan a noteworthy assault undetected, lastly, was the fear demonstration a separated occurrence or the first of an arrangement. While the effect of terrorism on exchange may fluctuate crosswise over time and place, brutality and fighting for the most part suggest extra expenses for exchanges so that, if anything, we would expect a negative relationship between terrorist movement and the volume of exchange. All the more particularly, there are no less than three important courses in which fighting might be a block to global exchange. To start with, terrorism prompts unreliability and consequently raises the expenses of working together.
Globalization and me: what impacts could it be? According to Word Power Dictionary, globalization comes from word globalize which means develop (business, society, etc.) so as to make international influence or action possible. Other than that, globalization can be define as the increasing connectivity and interdependence of the world’s economies, societies, and cultures because of advances in communications, technology, trade, international investment movement of currency, and migration. In my opinion, technology is the big roles or function that brings the globalization.
The World Wars have a huge impact to develop international law. War among the states naturally occurs because of their different perspective and interest. The two world wars, (World War 1 and 2), has awaken the enmity among the states that they need to have a governing body to avoid that kind of catastrophe. The World War 1, a Global War
Obi (2015) reflected that random acts of terrorism limit the activities of tourism while being in the memories of people until the incidents fade. Chukwurah, et al (2015) argued that the influence of terrorism can be significant in the developed countries. Omoera (2015) gave the opinion that the consequences of terrorism are extended beyond the activities associated with the tourism industry. It is further noted that the sectors involved in hospitality, aviation, and the suppliers of intermediate goods and services along with the investors in the tourism industry suffered significant losses. The severe impact of terrorism on the tourism industry of a specific developed country is due to the competition at global level and the development of tourist destination requires significant investment in the facilities of infrastructure.
