It seems to me it would be more accurate to say “The War on Babies.” After all, the mother will not lose her life from an abortion, but her child will. Abortions do not seem fair to me because in following through with an abortion, a child loses their life without having any say in the matter. All
Abortion takes away unwanted pregnancies from women who would suffer otherwise from the stress and trauma of carrying a child for nine months. Pro- life supporters refuse to see a woman’s situation, reasons, and benefits for getting abortions before assuming cruel things about them. They are ignorant to the reason why many women choose to make the decision they do. Clearly, abortion should remain legal in America; it may seem immoral, but it is frequently the best decision for people put in that situation. Even so, a fetus cannot be compared to a living human being.
I don’t feel as though these objections undermine my opinion because women alone get a lot of grief and judgment when it comes to the subject of abortion. There are two people who are involved in creation of a fetus and the decision to terminate a pregnancy may be reached alone or by both potential parents but, it is the ultimately the woman who experiences the judgment for the decision. Let’s say that pregnancy happens not as a result of something tragic like rape, but simply irresponsibility. The combined ethical theories approach I proposed didn’t necessarily help me determine my position on this controversial subject, but I do think that for this subject, perhaps Virginia Held’s “ethics of care” might be more appropriate. Held says that the central focus of the ethics of care is attending to and meeting the needs of others whom we care for and take responsibility for.
Thesis: You do not have the right to tell a rape victim that she cannot get an abortion. Her rights were taking away from her when being raped, why should we now take her rights away from her free will. God gave us free will to make our own decisions. So why does the government think they have the right to take our rights away. Logos: The reason I believe rape victims should be allowed abortion is because it can help them put there assault behind them so they can recover more quickly and avoid the additional trauma of having to give birth to a rapist baby.
There is a divide among the people of the United States surrounding the idea of women being able to have abortions. Some people strongly believe that women should not be able to have abortions, they consider themselves to be pro-life. While other people firmly believe that women have the right to have abortions, those people are considered to be pro-choice. Women across the world should have the right to choose whether or not they want to have abortions because they have the right to their own bodies. The argument for people who believe in pro-choice is that the government should not be able to decide whether or not a woman should continue a pregnancy because it is her body.
Abortion Today, abortion is one of the biggest debate topics. Some argue that respect should be given to those who are unborn, and the other side argues that women should have a choice for their future. Some women choose abortion because they feel they should have control over their bodies, control over their future, and control over their finances. On the other hand, some people believe that abortion is wrong because of the potential risks, morality, and the rights of the unborn. Abortion does not have to be the answer to an unwanted pregnancy Advocates of abortion believe that it is spiritually and morally permissible for a woman who finds herself in an unwanted pregnancy to seek an abortion.
“They base this argument on the fact that they consider the fetus as human; therefore, killing potential people not only is it wrong but also illegal. In addition, there is the argument on fetal rights; that is, since the fetus is a potential human then human rights apply.” (Karakoulaki, M., 2012) Not only do these individuals who advocate for pro-life believe that abortion is murder, but they also believe that the act of terminating a pregnancy puts the prospective mother in danger of health issues. “Connecting abortion with psychological illnesses and even breast cancer; arguments that that have no scientific base.” (Karakoulaki, M., 2012) Many go as far as claiming that abortion is an act against the feminism moment, as by terminating a pregnancy you are potentially murdering a soon to be
Parental consent for abortion has been a widely debated topic ever since abortion was made legal over four decades ago. Parental consent should not be needed in order for a minor to receive an abortion. Putting up additional legal barriers to make abortion even more inaccessible just prompts these young women to seek out dangerous alternatives, such as self induced abortion. It has been medically proven that safe, legal abortion is much safer for most teen girls rather than childbirth. Overall, making abortion harder to access for women would force babies upon unprepared teens, possibly ruining their futures and perpetuating a cycle of poverty.
While an abortion can bring stress a woman should still be given the choice. The first thing to consider is the health of the mom. To have a child can be difficult on the mother and it could possibly kill her. Carrying and delivering a baby can be very painful and dangerous to a woman. There can be many problems when a woman is giving birth.
Although, religious or not, there are women that strongly believe that a baby 's life deserves to live no matter what, and they are called the Pro-Life movement. Never is it the child 's fault to be aborted and taken away from their life. Women need to take responsibility and matters into their own hands, instead of taking matters in the doctor 's office by planning to take a precious life away. The main reason why some women get abortions is because they
Doris Gudino Professor Chounlamountry Political Science 1 27 July 2015 Pro-Choice Anyone? A woman has, undoubtedly, the freedom to procreate, but once a woman chooses to retreat from that freedom, a commotion arises. Abortion is a woman’s choice for many reasons. It’s her body, therefore, no one else can decide for said person. She may have family and or financial problems preventing her from being able to properly care for the child.
Her feminist stance puts forward the case for women to abort unwanted pregnancies when a women choses to do so, without the permission of others. She argues that to prohibit abortion, is to only lead to more unsafe back street abortions putting women at a higher overall risk. For warren abortion is essential
The utilitarian concentrates on the consequences of abortion. The pro-choice utilitarian will seek justice for all the illegal and unsanitary abortions that will occur, while the pro-life will demand for rights of the unborn children. The deontological perspective deals mainly with the issue of rights. For example, the pro-life deontologist will defend the fetus’s life and rights while the pro-choice deontologist will claim that the woman’s right overcome the rights of the
The debate around abortion is one that has led political headlines for decades. Many people view abortion as immoral because it is the destruction of an individual. Others argue that an unborn child is not yet an individual, so abortion is acceptable during the early stages of pregnancy. Compromises on this thought often revolve around the point at which an embryo or fetus becomes a human person. If an unborn child is not yet a person, then it has no moral status, and abortion would be acceptable.
