Banning books in schools Opening a book is like entering a new world. So many people can agree that books educate them and give them a better understanding about themselves and the world. Books shouldn't be getting banned even if they have hard topics.
One of the most important reasons why books shouldn't be banned is because books about different lives give readers a different point of view. Giving readers different perspectives can give readers a more open mind to other people and cultures. In the article “Banned books-pros and cons” the text states, “One study found that J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, which is frequently challenged for religious concerns about witchcraft, “improved attitudes”about immigrants, homosexuals, and refugees.” The text also states, “Another study found that reading narrative fiction helps readers understand their peers and raises social abilities.” These pieces of evidence show that reading different books about different perspectives on the world can give people a better understanding of life.
