This notion is supported by Dr. Daniel Gould, who believes that “Children who participate in sports have increased educational aspirations, closer ties to school and increased occupational aspirations in youth” (1). People against the funding of high school sports think that parents and society are placing more emphasis than ever before and, “[P]ressures athletic personnel to deviate on winning from the athlete- centered educational and personal development mission” (Gould 1). However, athletes strive to do better in class. Michael Lorenc, a high school basketball coach believes that “those who seem to have an overwhelming schedule where they’re playing maybe multiple sports, and high academic schedules, they tend to do better than those who don’t do anything extracurricularly” (Gray). Balancing sports and school makes athletes put more effort into keeping up grades while playing the sport they love.
There are not many programs that can say that (“3 Benefits of Enrolling Your Child in Travel Sports”). This shows that travel sports can lead to a high level in that sport. Not only are the kids playing the sport they love, they are learning about other countries. Furthermore, people find out that kids benefit early on from playing travel sports as kids. An article illustrates that Don Westfall, the general Manager of the Connecticut Sportsplex in North Branford, wrote how they are realizing that kids are better athletes at a higher level because they began playing that support at a young age.
I support this proposal. Girls should be allowed to play on boys’ sport teams when there isn’t a girls’ team for that sport to play on. As more girls look for athletic opportunities where they are able to play both fairly and successfully, they are subjected to sports teams composed of only boys. While some parents or coaches are against girls on boys’ sports teams, many others support these actions. However so, girls should be allowed to play on boys’ sports teams.
They also learn respect and become more mature from playing on a coed sport teams. Yes, some people would say that coed sports may cause injuries or make kids feel uncomfortable, but the kids choose to be on the team. By choosing coed sports, they accept the challenge of working together as a team. Kids can get injuries from playing on same sex teams, and sometimes it's good to go out of your comfort zone. Overall, having coed sports teams is a great idea, one that helps kids develop into accepting
Here is what the one side has to say about youth sports. If young children and teens only does one yearly rounded sport, that does not lead to good health for the kid or teen. There is some research to help back this up. Studies show that if a kid plays one sport yearly rounded, they would have more injuries, anxiety, and depression from that one sport and intensely training for that sport. There are also other symptoms for this.
Evidence that supports this is both measures commitment are significantly, positively related to lower dropout rates. This means that students have a strong attitude toward their school responsibilities. Ultimately, participating in a team sport will improve their work habits in future situations. Some would argue that students who are involved in their school sport affects their work in class. Opponents support their reasons by seeing the results of student’s work and test scores when they are playing on the team.
A Competitive sport is very good at a young age to keep children on a good road to no drugs so it will reduce the drug use in the world and they will be healthy so go against obesity. Competitive sports are good at a young age because if the children like the sport they can go and pursue it more. However competitive sports can also be bad because some children will experience permanent brain damage. So it can go both ways depending on the parent of the child or children. But schools should allow both competitive and noncompetitive sports in schools for example if they have competition that all students have to participate in.
With so many kids participating it was bound to become something of discussing. Should kids play competitive sports? While some parents believe that the competition can harm kids, I believe that sports can greatly help kids. Making them experience healthy competition and become more well rounded contributing members of society. The first reason that I believe supports my claim is that kids gain a sense of healthy competition that can prepare them for life.
Even though there are cautions against sports including why do sports when most kids won’t even earn a scholarship? The answer to this question is there as loads of other life benefits the athletes will earn even if they don’t receive a scholarship. Some of these benefits include that focusing on your physical activity will help you earn skills that consist of things like teamwork, responsibility, respectfulness, and many others. This resulted that emerging adult may not be as healthy as it was perceived (Fatusi & Hindin, 2010). With that, researchers had also found that majority of the bad health habits, such as inactivity, obesity and poor diet, which started in adolescence stage increased as the young people progress to emerging adult. Therefore, this highlights the importance of having a regular exercise which not only improves physical health but mental as well such as improvement in self-concept, reduction in anxiety and depression (Santrock, 2013). Cognitive development in emerging adult is relatively similar to adolescent’s though Piaget did affirm that emerging adult’s thinking are more quantitatively advanced as they carry a greater wealth of knowledge and especially so for a specific area (Santrock, 2013). For example, Ann advanced quantitatively in her knowledge of audit process through her course of study which took place in her adolescent stage.
