“Global warming isn’t a prediction. It’s happening.” - James Hanson. This short and simple quote from Dr. James Hanson was used in New York Times article that he wrote about global warming. This article dates back to 2012, and global warming is still a thing today. It has gotten much worse, and Hanson is right when he said that at the time. Global warming is a worldwide problem that is overlooked by people, but as right now it might not majorly affect us now, it could very well do so in the future. But there are ways to avoid this atrocity, as it could solve many other issues too. Carpooling can be the shepherd of the Earth and its climate. As also carpooling can use High Occupancy Lanes (HOV) to drive too, which are lanes specifically designed so vehicles such as carpools can drive through and have to deal with less traffic. In the article, it states, “Supporters of carpooling cite many benefits in addition to reduced environmental impact, including less stress, more time to read or sleep, opportunities to socialize or work, the advantage of being able to use HOV lanes, and the sharing of commuting costs such as tolls, gas, and car maintenance.” This quote also explains that carpooling can in fact benefit work schedules and transportation.
