High school seniors have a lot to think about that last year of college. From decisions on prom attire to homecoming king and queen, the biggest decision of all is figuring out where to continue their education. While soon-to-be students are thinking about the best place for parties or the best education, the parents are thinking about the cost of their child’s needs. What is the real cost of college is what many parents (even students) try to figure out as their student debt grows. The average family cannot afford the average four year cost of a college student because the cost of tuition is too high, housing and meal plans are too extreme, and students struggle keeping their workload (from school and jobs) while athletes are normally forbidden to have jobs.
Tuition is the main cost of student debt. Tuition is how much the school’s education cost for a full time student. The only problems with tuition is that it is way too much and changes between public and private schools. A good …show more content…

Many students find it reasonable to pay a large tuition and go into large debt, while others try to find ways to reduce their debt. The biggest problem with college cost is tuition. The tuition accommodates for paying for classes, and then students must pay for the necessities like living arrangements, food, clothing, etc. Along with all those cost, students have to decide whether or not they can keep a job. Students usually like jobs that can help lower their schooling costs but when their grade point averages lower, is it really worth it? Parents should really think about all the extra costs that come with a college student. If tuition, housing and meal plans were lowered would there be more high school graduates deciding what college they like the most?
